We are looking for a credible project manager to support our Asset and Wealth Divisions who can join us, further develop what we have started and get results. Responsible for complex projects, you will need to have a sound PM background gained within Investments and have strong stakeholder management skills.
Our Project Managers are responsible for managing a number of projects such as launching new products and services, application development, systems integration, operational efficiency improvements, process reengineering, and infrastructure upgrades and deployments using waterfall and agile. The role will require supporting the business providing guidance and direction.
What you'll do
More specifically, the PM:
Is the single accountable party for defining, planning, orchestrating, and delivering a given project
Directly manages all aspects of the project lifecycle and works with matrix IT partners to oversee all SDLC phases of a project
Will take a hands-on role within the project, working with fund managers and investment professionals and representatives from other functional areas, e.g. Operations, Compliance, Marketing, Legal, Product Governance
Motivate a multi-functional team of Canada Life (and/or external) representatives to ensure the project delivers on time and within budget
Build successful relationships with the project delivery partners, including Product Development, fund administrator, trustee / custodian and auditor, etc.
Manage projects that deliver benefit to Canada Life Front Office, e.g. fund launches, share class launches, fund changes. These are product delivery projects, rather than IT or Regulatory change projects.
Manage senior stakeholders.
Delivers end results that are of the highest calibre with a clearly articulated scope and quantifiable business benefit
Who you are
Project management experience within investment management and an understanding of different project approaches and delivery methodologies (e.g. Agile, Waterfall).
A proven track record of successfully leading and delivering projects for front office stakeholders, and working across a wide range of functions is essential.
A history of successfully delivering product launches (specifically fund launches) and change initiatives.
Strong influence and negotiating skills with an ability to manage a variety of stakeholders.
A willingness to work to tight deadlines is key, alongside managing multiple projects, taking into account evolving business priorities.
Proven and demonstrable analytical and problem solving skills with an ability to negotiate pragmatic solutions to meet conflicting business requirements.
It is essential for you to be highly motivated, proactive and resilient, as well as being flexible and able to manage ambiguity during project delivery.
Exceptional communication skills - both written and verbal, with excellent active listening skills.
Good investment and asset class knowledge.
You must also be a team player and able to work with and through others with proven ability to quickly earn the trust of sponsors and key stakeholders; mobilise and motivate teams; set direction and approach; resolve conflict; deliver tough messages professionally; execute with limited information and sometimes with ambiguity
