This is a full time, permanent role located at 2 Sheppard Ave East. Description The Business Analyst is accountable to work as a liaison with the end users and project delivery teams to elicit, analyze, communicate, and validate information related to supporting the Strategy and Planning for the group. Collaborating with the management team and external partners, the Business Analyst collects, clarifies, and translates information into requirements that drive the testing and delivery of the end product for our clients. The Business Analyst will also perform SIT to validate the deliverables while working with developers to achieve success as well as support users throughout user acceptance testing.
Identifies sources of requirements, possible interfaces, and affected Lines of Business based on high-level process description or scenarios in order to understand stakeholder needs
Gathers users requirements and documents them in high level and detailed requirements documents
Builds, sustains, and leverages relationships with individuals within his/her area of immediate responsibility when gathering, validating, and approving requirements to establish a comfort level in managing relationships and understanding business needs and assurance that a quality result will be delivered
Identifies inconsistencies and gaps within a business process description and collaborates with stakeholders to clarify and simplify complex processes
Facilitates requirements gathering sessions, including leading discussions, managing group dynamics, and maintaining group focus, to work towards accomplishing the stated goal(s) of the session within the context of the project objectives
Creates a requirements management plan according to the recommended practices of the organization so that activities and milestones of the requirements management team can be measured against the goals of that plan
Obtains solid knowledge of business functionalities, runs data analytics and data mining to verify and derive requirements
Adheres to and ensures that others adhere to the organizations Requirements Management Process to support the organizational standards and ensure consistency of deliverables
Provides clarification of requirements to other project team members to assist them in the creation of their specific project deliverables (e.g., assists the testing team in the creation of the Testing Strategy and Testing Execution Plan; provides clarification for developers who would create Design Documents; etc.)
Authors and executes SIT cases and participates in defect resolution processes as defects are found
Collaborates with various teams to run cross impact analyses
Supports users in preparation for UAT testing and throughout execution of UAT
Finalises test phase finding via Final Reports and gathers approvals for all documentation, PPQA, implementation, etc.
Supports production related inquiries as needed
Takes ownership on assigned tasks to delivery high quality product in efficient way
Possesses a university degree/college diploma and/or 4 to 6 years progressive business analysis experience, supporting smaller to medium size projects
Possesses solid business knowledge in the Finance/Banking industry specifically with Commercial Banking
Payments knowledge would be an asset
Experience working with vendor/vendor management
Strong Word, PowerPoint, and Excel skills
Knowledge of project and defect tracking systems especially Jira would be an asset
Experience in running JRD sessions
Experience using tools like HP ALM
Experience of fast tracked Agile project delivery
Very Strong Communication skills - communicates easily with varying stakeholders (high level executives, technology teams, end users, project delivery teams) in controlled situations (e.g., one-on-one interviews, formal requirements gathering sessions, etc.)
Demonstrates solid writing and documentation skills
Possesses solid problem-solving and analytical skills
Works well both independently and in teams, comfortable leading less experienced business analysts
Displays good interviewing and facilitation skills
Solid understanding and use of tools associated with the role (e.g. Visio)
Experience with basic SQL to support data mining analyses
