MANDATE The Senior Operations Specialist position is accountable to the Senior Manager, Capital Market and Enterprise Networks & Hosting for implementing and maintaining resilient firewall and security infrastructure for critical Capital Markets Risk and infrastructure services.
Scope of responsibilities encompass, but may not be limited to, design, engineering, planning and support of all L2/L3/L4 network devices essential for Capital Markets and Risk Infrastructure line of businesses, by working with other senior support analysts and EI COE's. This is a senior role which provides guidance, leadership and organizational capability for application and infrastructure implementation initiatives with 24/7 on-call duties for supported environment. Vendor coordination of hosting environments and strong knowledge of the CMRI data center hosting environment will be required.
Responsible for design, engineering, planning and day to day support of critical firewalls and security systems for trading, investment banking applications and essential infrastructure services
Provide guidance and assists in the setup and configuration of highly complex server and appliances based environments including hardware setup, operating system configurations
Installation, configuration, upgrade and testing of system/network hardware, software, firewalls and third party software running on Checkpoint and JUNOS operating systems.
Works with TD and other EI COE's to carry out necessary application and infrastructure releases, support and documentation according to industrial best practices and the Bank's standardized processes (e.g. CMMI and ITIL)
Responsible for basic operational processes and verification including firewall and operating system patches, technology life cycle management, continuous monitoring and performance tuning
Provides ongoing 24/7 support of supported system and services (on call support every 5 weeks)
May be part of the forum that contributes to the development of the Bank's governance guidelines and processes (e.g. ITIL, CMMI)
Completes problem analysis and resolution, and leads Technical Recovery Teams in the restoration of service for highly complex problems
Conducts post mortem meetings for root cause analysis of service impacting issues
Provides technical consultation in project and planning teams regarding technology standards, practicality and supportability of chosen architecture
Manages and liaises with technology vendor for project based technology implementation, procurement and licensing
Adheres to corporate policies and best practices to ensure internal and external audit and regulatory compliance in the areas of security, control and standards
May have to participate in budgeting and financial control activities with the immediate or higher level managers
Participates actively in building high performance teams with directions aligned with T&O and the Bank as a whole
Possesses a university degree/college diploma in applied technologies or equivalent business experience, and/or 5+ years experience in Banking applications and infrastructure support responsibilities, preferably in the trading environment
Minimum 5+ years working experience in firewall administration using CheckPoint and Juniper SRX, NSM, and JUNOS space.
Minimum 5+ years working experience in Cisco switches and routers, including Nexus 7K
CCNP Certified (CCIE preferred)
Working experience in Red Hat Enterprise Linux System (RHEL) administration
Demonstrates solid knowledge of server administration on HP hardware and related system monitoring tools (iLO, HPSIM)
Demonstrate sound knowledge on firewall, VPN, IDS, encryption technologies, and networking protocols (TCP/IP, PKI, BGP, HSRP, VRRP, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS, NFS, DHCP, various Microsoft network protocols, etc)
Familiarity with ITIL and ServiceNow
Demonstrate solid knowledge and experience in various industrial best practices and standards, e.g. CMMI, ISO, SAS 70
10 to 20% project based work (deployment, engineering, etc.)
Possesses solid communication and interpersonal skills
Displays solid problem solving and analytical skills
Illustrates solid customer service skills.
Demonstrates solid teamwork skills and able to work independently
Is self-motivated, goal-oriented, customer-service oriented and able to manage change
The working environment provides minimal exposure to discomfort or risk to safety. Work hours include normal business hours with on-call and off-hour/weekend support as required.
The incumbent is to provide essential IT support services to fast-paced trading businesses that could be highly stressful depending on the market conditions, and which typically involve most of major markets globally.
