The Role: Analytical Manager - Corporate Ratings, Pacific Region
The Location: Melbourne
The Impact: The Global Corporates and Infrastructure group has an opening for an Analytical Manager for Corporate Ratings in the Asia-Pacific region and is looking to fill it as soon as possible. The successful candidate will report to the Lead Analytical Manager for Corporate Ratings in Asia Pacific, manage a team of around 10 analysts and be a key member of the Asia Pacific Corporate Ratings Leadership Team. He/ she will closely work together with his/ her peers in Hong Kong, Singapore, Tokyo and Taipei.
Lead analytical excellence across the team by producing forward looking analysis providing the most valuable information possible to investors to help in their credit decisions, with a view to maintain best-in-class ratings performance
Ensure that our communication to issuers, investors and the media is clear, timely, precise and transparent in telling a credit story
Contribute to cross-practice and cross-regional analytical activities both internally and externally
Oversee the team's overall credit ratings process
Maintain close vigilance over analytics and publishing quality
Managing resource allocation to optimize service delivery to the markets, including task delegation to CRISIL
Ensure rating committees are effective and criteria are consistently applied through chairing committees and overseeing compliance with committee processes
Utilizing input from Credit Conditions Committee (CCC) and Portfolio Analytics Team (PAT) in rating committees and published research on a consistent basis
Ensure the quality and timeliness of the team's ratings according to the set business procedures and in compliance with relevant analytical criteria and S&P Global Ratings policies and procedures
Ensure a positive compliance culture within the team, including leading by example
Develop a culture of service excellence in the team by focusing members on sector expertise, constructive and predictable communication with issuers, analytical continuity and flawless execution
Develop analysts and grow employee engagement, focus on career development and develop and implement training in line with dual career path
With senior analytical leaders, undertake and coordinate outreach initiatives with various market constituents (issuers, sponsors, investors, intermediaries and professional associations) in the context of our strategic objectives and policies
Contribute to the success of a learning organization through continuous self-development, teamwork and contribution to organizational improvement through recruiting, developing and retaining talent
Encourage mentoring and cross-departmental exposure; manage self-development and advancement utilizing internal resources and external development opportunities
Be responsible for the ownership and execution of the talent strategy within the global Corporate and Infrastructure practice. Continuously assess skills and capabilities within the team; develop capabilities and hire of required capabilities to improve/complement existing workforce; provide coaching and feedback continuously, role model a culture of accountability and performance management for the team
What we're looking for:
Strong understanding of corporate credit ratings, so as to be able to represent S&P Global externally in key forums with issuers, sponsors, developers and investors and governments will be an advantage
Knowledgeable of the Australian market and the overall global fixed income market
Understanding of the application of the range of criteria applied in the corporate sector will be an advantage
People leader with extensive record of analytical excellence, process and subject matter expertise who is able to demonstrate analytical independence and objectivity
Understanding of the new Corporate and Infrastructure Leadership team's priorities and a capacity to meaningfully contribute to execution of those priorities
Strong client and market knowledge and ability to contribute to the continued development of S&P's franchise, as well as relevant experience in credit analysis
Demonstrated operational management, influencing and communication skills with focus on strategy implementation and improvements to working practices and methods, as well as, demonstrated capacity to collaborate effectively with peers within and outside a team
Proven ability to attract, motivate and lead a team of analysts in a collaborative working style
In-depth knowledge of the procedures and methodologies used for determining credit ratings, including qualitative and quantitative models, and be able to provide guidance to the team, especially in complex areas
Demonstrated leadership skills and change management aptitude - the capacity to challenge views, processes, and behaviors, especially in complex areas would be highly valued
Graduate degree in Business, Public Policy, Finance or related field required
Intercultural agility - the ability to manage across regions, time zone and cultures - is essential
Demonstrated excellence in communication skills, specifically public speaking and writing skills
