About The Role Role Location: Sydney (preferred) or Melbourne Role Type: Permanent & Full-time
ANZi is the business innovation lab and venture capital arm of ANZ Bank. We are building and investing in big ideas that will help people and communities thrive. We explore the ever-changing landscapes of small business, homeownership, and financial services. We incubate original and ground-breaking business ideas in our New Business Lab and make strategic partnerships and investments through our venture capital and partnerships teams.
As the Ventures Analyst, your key responsibilities will include:
Supporting the Ventures, Partnerships, and New Business Lab team by gathering and synthesizing industry information and research
Identifying trends and assist in developing the investor and partner target lists
Performing financial modelling on potential investment companies, including comparable transaction and public company analysis
Drafting executive summaries, investment memos, and other documents
Creating concise and clear market scans, sector and segment analysis, and trend narratives that can regularly be circulated and presented across ANZ
Your areas of focus will include:
Research and Market Analysis - research the key ANZi strategic focus area and identify the investment thesis, competitive analysis for each area
Financial Analysis - Demonstrates an understanding of financial statement analysis, venture investment process, and company valuation techniques
Investment Case Development - Develop investment theses, projections, and recommendations for potential partnerships and investment
Development of an informed perspective of key sectors - Cultivate your ecosystem and investing thesis for ANZi
Diligence and Research - Perform the required primary research to understand whether or not to invest in a given company
About you To be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:
Experience with a venture fund, an investment bank (focusing on tech sectors), private equity, or a technology strategy consulting firm
Experience in writing investment memos, performing diligence, and performing financial analysis in support of transactions
Ability to structure and present an investment or partnership case for a particular opportunity
Ability to assess a situation, seek multiple perspectives, gather more information if necessary, and identify critical issues that need to be addressed
Ability to identify, scrutinize, improve, and streamline complex work processes through highly analytical thinking and analysis
Ability to act prudently in evaluating associated risks in all transactions
Ability to convey information (both written and verbal) effectively and efficiently
A Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Computer Science, or Management - Finance Concentration preferred (MBA would be advantageous but not required)
