The responsibilities will be broad, ranging from daily profit and loss computation, trade break investigation, through to large projects to improve systems, tools and workflows to support the execution of the firm's investment transactions. The funds invest primarily, but not exclusively, in equities, futures, listed options, as well as FX spot/forward contracts. Front Office career progression is available within this organisation and the opportunity would suit someone ambitious and really career motivated.
As a firm, they champion suggestions to improve and, where possible, automate processes in all areas. The team takes pride in being actively involved in the development of scalable processes and depending on the team members' technical abilities, (s)he will be allocated time on such coding (SQL, C#, C++, etc.) based enhancements.
Similarly, they encourage all team members, regardless of seniority, to participate in discussions surrounding strategic decisions and aspects impacting the wider aspects of the firm's trading operations. Being exposed and involved in trading, risk monitoring, performance reporting, as well as regular discussions with internal stakeholder groups, brokers and investors, experience in Operations can form the basis of a well-rounded understanding of the various aspects impacting a fund manager like them.
Logically minded, with strong academics – typically minimum 2:1 in an analytical field from a reputable university. Those with a Maths, Engineering, Physics background would be at a distinct advantage.
Proficient in Excel
Prior experience working in a Trade Support or Middle Office role at either an Investment Bank or Investment Management firm would be seen as a huge plus.
Natural problem solver – you can break complex problems into solvable parts
Some existing understanding of programming concepts is beneficial – e.g. VBA, Python, - but not essential.
