Exciting opportunity for a 4-5yr PQE Dispute Resolution/Litigation Solicitor to join the Contentious Matters team within the firmâ€™s Quality, Risk and Security community, on a 12/15 month fixed term contract to provide maternity cover, with a strong possibility of a permanent role within the firm at the end of the contract. Â
There are three core aspects to the role. Â First, managing complaints, claims, regulatory investigations, requests for evidence and other contentious risk situations, across all of our service lines (Audit & Assurance, Tax & Legal, Consulting, Financial Advisory and Risk Advisory). Â Second, providing legal and risk advice and due diligence on combinations, mergers and acquisitions undertaken by the firm, principally in the areas of contentious matters, quality and risk, and professional indemnity insurance, including liaison with the business and with lawyers in our in-house corporate legal team. Â Third, responding to ad-hoc risk, contracting and legal queries from partners and staff across the firm and inputting into learning and development to enhance quality across the firm. The role would include management of more junior team members, including trainees and paralegals. Your role Â
Complaints, claims and regulatory investigations (including requests for evidence)
Dealing with all aspects of the conduct of contentious matters from early stage correspondence, the receipt of a letter of claim, complaint, regulatory inquiry or investigation, or identification of a circumstance, through to resolution, with specific tasks including:
Advising on the merits, and potential exposures
Formulating and advising on case strategy
Drafting responses, including correspondence, formal representations and pleadings
Supporting partners and employees involved in contentious situations Â
Liaising with internal and external stakeholders such as experts, lawyers, opponents, regulators, leadership (firm, service line and risk), media/press team, and others
Document preservation, collation, review and disclosure
Interviewing witnesses and preparing and reviewing witness statements
Reviewing and commenting upon expert reports
Attending mediations and settlement discussions
Pre-hearing preparation and attending Tribunal and Court hearings
Analysing and responding to requests for information, documents and witness statements in the context of litigation, investigations or prosecutions, in the UK and overseas, from clients and third parties (such as prosecuting authorities, regulators and insolvency office holders)
Assisting with the quality, risk and legal aspects of the due diligence process
Reviewing draft contracts
Dealing with insurance and regulatory issues
Â Other ad hoc tasks Â
Advising in response to ad hoc risk, legal and contractual queries from partners and staff across the firm, generally in the context of the provision of services to clients
Inputting into firm-wide projects
Contributing to learning and development to enhance quality across the firm

Your professional experience
You would ideally have:
4-5 years PQE as a disputes resolution solicitor (professional negligence and / or contentious regulatory experience would be an advantage but not essential).
Strong analytical skills and demonstrated ability to articulate advice and make recommendations based on analysis.
Strong interpersonal skills, including oral/written communication and influencing skills.
Highly motivated, with a proven ability to work on your own initiative within a challenging work environment.
Attention to detail and a consistent high level of quality.
Strong team player with good organisation, planning and project management skills.
Strong numerical skills.
