Monitor the European ecosystem, venture databases and industry news for break-out growth stage technology businesses
Analyze and track companies and sectors relevant to our investment thesis
Maintain and develop our CRM system
Use basic coding skills to run automated scripts to pull in data to enhance our CRM and target company priorities
Deep dive into selected industry sectors
Keep up to speed with the hottest developments in early stage TMT through twitter, industry blogs, press, as well as broader macro trends and dynamics
Evaluation of new investments and market intelligence:
Help the Investment team build and present investment cases for potential deals
Provide cogent analysis and due diligence as we move closer to a deal, including market and competitive analysis, customer references, and financial modelling
Articulate clear recommendations and rationale for investments. Provide critical judgement and considered opinions
Manage due diligence processes with a clear ability to home in on the critical quantitative and qualitative questions and use management time efficiently
Contribution to our portfolio companies and the Balderton funds:
Prepare presentations for investor meetings
Support the team on fund reporting and preparation for major events
Analyze portfolio companies on an ongoing basis
Support portfolio companies on specific projects
Skills and qualifications required
Minimum of a 2:1 or 3.5 GPA from a top quartile University
Bachelor of Commerce or Economics preferred
At least 3 years' experience in a top M&A or Consulting firm
Transaction experience with financial sponsors expected
Must be highly proficient at operational and financial modelling, including multiple valuation methodologies and LBO modelling. Within this the candidate should have experience in sale transactions including segment and whole co sales plus drafting fairness opinions, sensitivity analysis, operational benchmarking, DCF valuations, precedent transaction analysis, sum of parts valuation and dealing with complex structures.
Must have international transactional experience
Fluent written and spoken English required
