To support our success we are currently seeking a Legal Counsel to join our in-house legal team in our Sydney office.
About the Role...
Reporting to the Head of Investment Legal, you will be responsible for providing legal advice and support to Sunsuper's Investment Strategy and Investment Operations teams and Sunsuper management. You will assist Sunsuper in meeting our legal and compliance obligations.
In this role you will be responsible for:
Providing timely, accurate and commercial advice on investment related and commercial activities.
Assisting in the review and assessment of complex investment related documentation including without limitation, unlisted fund investments and co-investments and direct investments in unlisted assets.
Assisting and contributing as required to investment-related projects and initiatives.
Assisting in the review of and advising on documentation engaging investment managers, consultants, custodians and administrators, and other service providers.
Conducting legal research, analysis, and interpretation.
Liaising with external legal advisers as required.
Assisting in the development of due diligence processes applicable to all asset classes in which Sunsuper invests.
Assisting in the development of additional compliance and other internal policies, due diligence processes as required.
Maintaining document records for investment activities in Sunsuper document systems.
To ensure success you will possess:
Relevant tertiary qualifications and qualified to practice law in New South Wales.
Demonstrated experience working as a financial markets or capital markets lawyer with substantial experience in negotiating and advising on ISDA and other trading documentation.
Sound academic grounding supported by superior problem-solving skills.
Strong communication and relationship building skills with a variety of stakeholders both internal and external to Sunsuper.
Strong time management skills, the ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks.
Candidates with at least 5 years post admission experience with a leading law firm and/or in-house working as a financial markets or capital markets lawyer will be highly regarded.
