The Role Responsibilities
Supporting the Bank's relationship with key UK-based institutions, trade associations and think tanks including The City UK, UK Finance, among others;
Capture, manage and leverage all incoming and outgoing ministerial visits across out footprint, working closely with relevant UK Government departments and institutions;
Support the team in intelligence gathering and attending key events in London to support market engagement;
Develop and deliver engagement strategies on specific streams of public policy positioning as agreed by the Global Head of Group Public & Regulatory Affairs.
Identify and coordinate opportunities for senior management to act as "trusted counsel" to government and other actors on key policy issues
Advise the Brexit Programme Steering Committee / Executive Management Group on political and regulatory developments
Ensure comprehensive intelligence-gather and briefings are provided in advance of SCB executives' speaking roles, bilateral and committee meetings;
Work closely with relevant GPRA colleagues in leveraging on the public policy agenda between the UK and footprint markets
Our Ideal Candidate
Experience of Public Affairs in a major multinational corporation, ideally in an international bank or similar organisation;
Degree in law, politics or economics would be desirable;
Excellent drafting, writing, communication and briefing skills required;
Ability to engage with senior internal and external stakeholders effectively.
Good working knowledge and experience of the UK political landscape. Knowledge of international organisations would be an advantage, as would familiarity with the core markets in which the Bank operates across Asia, Africa and the Middle East.
