APAC Loan Agency is a private side utility function supporting multiple lines of business including Corporate Investment Banking (Debt Capital Markets, Global Corporate Bank, Currency and Exchange Markets, Secondary Loan Trading Desk) and Commercial Banking when JPMorgan acts as Facility and/or Security Agent on a syndicated loan facility. The Loan Agency specialist will act as the central point of contact for business/deal team leads, borrower, lenders, legal counsel and operations for transactions, ensuring smooth processing and providing strong business support.
APAC Secondary Loan Trading Support is also a private side utility function supporting the Secondary loan trading desk in APAC to manage private sided information flow between external & internal counterparties and to provide trade documentation support end to end until settlement of trade.
Key responsibilities include:
Manage portfolio of syndicated loans in the role of facility and/or security agent
Maintain ongoing relationships with Borrower's and other syndicate members
Handle and follow up on day to day phone and written inquiries and resolve issues in a timely manner
Review syndicated loan agreements opining on operational clauses
Facilitate conditions precedent with borrower, legal counsel, and arranger on conditions precedent prior to drawdown
Ensure accurate funds movement (disbursements, interest, fees) between syndicate group
Facilitate waiver requests between syndicate group
Monitor borrower's compliance with specified financial covenants
Facilitate secondary loan trading transactions in the role of facility agent
Participate in industry / firm-wide initiatives providing insight and innovative solutions and suggestions in order to create and maintain a "best in class" service
Work in a very dynamic environment and partnering with the trading desk, external clients, legal counsel and operations to settle primary / secondary par and distressed loan trades across EMEA, North America and Asia
Review, negotiate and draft LMA standard documents and other trade-related documents including confirms, assignment agreements, claims, proceeds letters, participation agreements, cash collateral agreements and multilateral agreements
Coordinate with internal and external legal counsel to agree to proposed changes to trade documents
Review and understand syndicated credit agreements with specific focus on transfer mechanics
Manage a challenging trade portfolio across various lines of business while maintaining a healthy aging profile and driving reduced settlement times
Identify and escalate issues to the front office trading assistants / traders / sales people, internal legal counsel and operations management
Escalate LMA trade confirmation issues, focusing primarily on key economics, language and fee-related disputes
Work directly with counterparties, internal partners and external Agents to resolve issues
Monitor / track / report all escalated issues using appropriate workflow tools
Coordinate timely and precise trade settlement with various settlement groups across WLMO
Create and understand key metrics reporting for front office teams, internal management, committees and control groups
Work on non-BAU projects and initiatives designed to improve automation and strengthen the team's control environment
Minimum of 3 years working experience in banking, experience in Loan agency & Secondary loan trading is desirable.
Knowledge of APLMA & LMA loan documentation, syndicated and bi-lateral lending structures, functions of various agency roles and end to end operational processing for bi-lateral, agented and secondary loan trading transactions
Ability to communicate well both written and verbal with internal/external stakeholders of various experience and seniority
Understanding of banking operations, front office business and corporate support functions
Knowledge of Loan IQ preferred
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Excellent analytical skills
Self-motivation with tangible examples of demonstrating drive and initiative
Extremely detailed and control orientated; keen to understand the detail
Ability to multitask efficiently under pressure and in a fast paced environment
Strong PC skills in particular Excel, Word and PowerPoint
