Who we are
The Manager Research team is an integral part of Client Portfolio Solutions, identifying and monitoring best-of-breed investment strategies for use in client portfolios. The team approves investment strategies that are managed by third party investment management firms as well as strategies managed by BlackRock investment teams. Key team responsibilities include investment and operational due diligence and on-going monitoring of manager investments. The team has the ambition to be a market leader in manager research, selection and investment process using the power of data and technology to its unique advantage. The Manager Research team collaborates with teams across the firm to ensure outstanding client outcomes and to ensure consistency and best practice in multi-manager investing across BlackRock.
What you will be doing
Conduct research on alpha-seeking (active) and index tracking (passive) investment strategies, covering investment due diligence, operational due diligence and ESG assessment; you will be covering investment strategies in several asset classes depending on client needs; fixed income experience is preferred
Proactive manager monitoring and portfolio surveillance to assess managers ability to meet objectives and to ensure client portfolios are managed in compliance with investment guidelines
Document the selection, monitoring and due diligence process in support of well-researched, high conviction recommendations to address specific client portfolio needs in the most effective way
Actively contribute to enhancement of the Manager Research capability, innovating the way we leverage data and technology in our research process
Engage with investment teams across BlackRock to leverage insights, expertise and knowledge of investment managers and markets, consolidate and apply the collective knowledge to benefit our clients
Working closely with Client CIOs, Portfolio Managers and other internal stakeholders to assist with optimal investment strategy and portfolio construction subject to client requirements
Be directly involved in the review of the fund's audited financial statements, administrator and legal offering documents in collaboration with the BlackRock legal team
Support negotiation of terms, conditions and mandate specifications of separately managed accounts

What you should have
At least 3 years of relevant investment experience reviewing and selecting investment strategies
Fixed income investment research experience is advantageous
Structured process driven approach to manager research with proactive manager surveillance
Communication skills and an ability to clearly articulate recommendations in English
Cross team and firm relationship building skills is important to fully employ the breadth of BlackRock
Energetic, inquisitive and the necessary initiative to work in an analytical, research-driven team
Strong organizational skills with keen attention to detail and ability to multi-task, demonstrating process rigor
Bachelor's degree required; CFA and/or Master's degree preferred
Knowledge of eVestment, Morningstar, Bloomberg, VBA and/or Python is an advantage
