The Systematic Fixed Income team is seeking to hire a portfolio manager / credit analyst to join the UK Credit team. The team is responsible for generating investment performance across a spectrum of active portfolios including one of BlackRock's flagship hedge funds (Fixed Income Global Alpha). Active credit positions are derived directly from investment models developed and implemented by the team. Portfolio managers are responsible for partnering with researchers to build and develop the investment models as well as implementing and overseeing the strategies.
The successful candidate will initially support the management of quantitative portfolio strategies employing European credit fixed income assets. The role is expected to develop to involve primary responsibility for these strategies. Investment decisions will be based on the output of researched models but also incorporate factors outside of the models' scope. The successful candidate's role will include the following:
Support for systematic long-short trading strategies. Trading dimensions will largely be market neutral.
Credit analysis of issuers within the European investment universe, with the assistance of a quant model.
Work closely with researchers to improve investment performance. Provide new market insights that can be used systematically within a modelling framework.
Employ exploratory research techniques to determine the feasibility of new ideas
Interface with Product Strategists to facilitate the marketing of the product set and provide regular feedback that can be used in client communications.
Manage and use derivatives to hedge out the team's FX and interest rate risk across all strategies managed by the team
Experience of credit investing, for example in a hedge fund, asset management or investment banking would be an advantage.
Ability and willingness to work within a systematic and quantitative investment process.
Strong computing and quantitative modelling skills would all be a distinct advantage.
Must possess the desire and ability to work in a team-oriented environment. Willingness to challenge others' views and be challenged without being confrontational.
Flexible, self-starting, and responsible personality.
