About the Product Group
Within the UK business, the product group provides a centre of excellence for the management and development of products and services for the UK distribution channels. The team is responsible for developing brand new products, as well as developing and maintaining market leading, competitive, compliant and efficient products for the UK business. This includes analysing changes in legislation, technology, demographics and customer behaviour to identify opportunities to enhance the existing product set and create brand new products and services. This is about more than just keeping the lights on; we drive change to ensure Fidelity is the first choice for customers, employers and advisers when considering where to invest their or their clients/employees money. In practice, this means the team manages the UK business product strategy for retail (SIPP) and DC pensions, ISAs and the General Investment account, along with any tools and services which are required across products and channels. The team is the key interface between the channels and the operation and technology teams to ensure that all change is co-ordinated to deliver maximum return for our investment, that we build solutions once and that they are scalable & efficient. We need to understand the target clients for our distribution teams, their needs and goals then ensure our solutions meet those needs.
You will work alongside a team of other product managers and take ownership of initiatives ensuring that we meet our commitments to the business and our customers. You will be expected to maintain and develop a deep understanding of our products and how they are differentiated from those of our competitors and use this knowledge to help deliver business advantage for Fidelity.
Fidelity's pension products include workplace and retail pensions and retirement products. As a senior product manager you will be responsible for management and development of Fidelity's pension products. Whilst you may specialise in one pension product, you will also get involved in the development of the other pension products the group is responsible for.
Effectively interfacing between the channels and the functional departments
Work with the business channels to understand customer requirements as they relate to the products you are responsible for ensuring these are carried through to development
Equally, work with the functional teams in Fidelity to understand their requirements and factor these into current and future development
Act as the "go to" person for the business in relation to your product set answering questions and providing product expertise as required
Understanding the competitive landscape
Form a good understanding of competitor products identifying points of differentiation with Fidelity and using this to inform development and positioning of our products
Keep abreast of regulatory change that affects your products and work with Pensions Technical and oversight teams to ensure we interpret their application to our products
Provide competitive insight to the sales and marketing teams to help them differentiate Fidelity in the marketplace and so better achieve their business goals
Developing and maintaining market leading, competitive and compliant products and services:
Support the definition of the rolling product roadmap ensuring we have laser focus on near term priorities while always having a clear understanding of the long-term direction of travel
Ensure we accurately evaluate and monitor the commercials underlying our products and that we use these to inform how we deliver change
Seek to deliver operational efficiency and scalability by working with functional teams to understand pain points and potential areas for change
Ensure all interested parties have a clear understanding of what is, and what is not, in scope at any time and when it will be delivered
Act as product owner on change projects ensuring all participants have a clear understanding of business requirements and making decisions quickly and effectively to ensure the pace of development is maintained and that change is developed on time, on scope and within budget
Maintain a culture of continuous improvement by constantly evaluating the products against customer needs to ensure we maintain a market leading position
Ensure the products meet with all current and proposed regulatory requirements, supporting the development of changes to ensure ongoing compliance.
Ensure products are developed and maintained in line with treating customers fairly, conflicts of interest and other relevant policies.
Be responsible for detailed product MI and associated commentary ensuring we deliver value added and actionable insight to the business
Ensure that product specifications and internal product materials are kept up-to-date
Being the product representative internally & externally to Fidelity:
Maintain and develop your technical knowledge of pensions and retirement to ensure you stay abreast of our ever changing environment
Represent Fidelity externally through participation in industry bodies and supporting channel functions with client meetings
Support public policy and government liaison through defining and articulating Fidelity's view point on legislative direction and responding to formal consultations.
Work closely with other pension product managers to maintain an understanding of their products and provide support for each other where necessary
Act as people development manager for less experienced product managers to ensure that they have clearly defined development paths and are supported in achieving their development goals.
Proven track record of successful pensions product management, product development or technical pensions support
Detailed technical knowledge of pensions.
Pensions qualifications are desireable (CII, PMI or alternative)
Strong knowledge of retirement products and services and a demonstrable understanding of current trends
Core understanding of the legal and regulatory environment in which our business operates and how this is changing
Ability to communicate effectively with individuals at all levels in the organisation
Attention to detail and an ability to complete fully on deliverables
Strong sense of personal ownership and responsibility
Proven ability to work within a team and to influence others to get the job done
