Overview of the Department/Section
MUFG has a developing and thriving Transaction Banking business, headquartered in Tokyo, and spanning all continents. Transaction Banking Office for EMEA (incorporating Europe, Middle East and Africa) forms part of MUFG's Global Transaction Banking Division.
Our key responsibilities are to drive regional business and support global and regional customers with Transaction Banking solutions in Cash & Liquidity Management, Trade & Working Capital, and Foreign Exchange.
Our strong and growing Cash & Liquidity Management business provides a wide range of deposits, cash management, liquidity, payments, channels and reporting services to our clients. This includes providing solutions both to our major Global Corporates within EMEA and the rest of the MUFG network, and also to our major Japanese clients with businesses across the EMEA.
Main Purpose of the Role
The Product Portfolio Manager will be responsible for owning and driving key strategic initiatives for the Cash and Liquidity Management's product team reporting directly to the head of the regional team. The role holder will be responsible for active management and delivery against agreed objectives, timelines and costs on a number of initiatives impacting a number of individual products and channels. This naturally includes intense collaboration and coordination given that many initiatives would impact and depend on various product managers responsible for specific products such as payments, deposits, liquidity management, etc. Additionally, close collaboration with a range of other internal stakeholders at global, regional and countries levels is paramount.
Lead and manage a number of key strategic initiatives within the product management function ranging in focus from product profitability, MI and reporting, budgeting, performance monitoring to some regulatory changes impacting the product area.
Develop and implement a standard regional framework for products and channels pricing governance, exceptional pricing policy and approvals matrix. Regular monitoring and reporting on levels of exceptional pricing across the region. Address any deviations from the established policy.
Lead regular pricing reviews and changes, customer impact analysis and communications with relevant internal and external stakeholders
Investigate and analyse products specific costs, providing clarity on the underlying methodology used (e.g. central costs recharges). Works closely with internal stakeholders to define or improve such costs methodologies ensuring transfer pricing requirements are met.
Develop regular costs monitoring report and report on trends, root causes and forecasts to management.
Design and implement a regional products risks assessment process. Define regional standard requirements, forms, processes and stakeholders and implement within an agreed period of time.
Coordinate regular products and channels developments budgeting cycle for the EMEA region
Track and report on actual incurred costs of development in progress against the approved budget
Define, develop and provide management information and analytics to track performance of the initiatives within the portfolio and their contribution to the overall regional business financials
Monitor and report product P&L across all cash and liquidity management products and channels working closely with relevant product areas to source key input and shape the output
Influence and drive proposed business, process, reporting and other improvements to delivery on targeted objectives in line with overall product and/or business strategy meeting deadlines and budgetary constraints
Collaborate with wider business operations, information technology, legal, compliance, corporate communications and other internal functions to attain the objectives
Provide regular status updates and progress reports to the team Head and business senior management across the portfolio of initiatives
Stay abreast of industry and fintech developments
Review market research and undertake competitor analysis
Support the Team Head on other priorities as required
Previous experience in cash management and payments product management ideally covering a similar client base (Global Corporates/ Multi Nationals/NBFIs)
Proven successful track record of project management, product development and solid understanding of product lifecycle methodology
Solid understanding of EMEA region transaction banking and cash management landscape as well as key market trends and underlying technology behind these
Experience working in a diverse global environment operating successfully in a networked / matrix organization
Project management qualification such as PRINCE2, Agile, etc. would be beneficial
Experience or understanding of Japanese culture would be helpful, but not essential
