Mission Description of the Business Line or Department
Metric Monitoring Group (MMG) Department role are to strengthen their expertise in the analysis of results and risks and increase their proximity with trading activities. MMGs major stakes is to meet the regulatory challenges, accompany the development of the business lines. Ultimately, MMG task is to ensure that MARK, RISQ and DFIN are able to carry out their respective roles within a carefully-controlled risk and cost management structure.
Summary of the Key Purposes of the Role
Production, analysis, certification, consolidation and reporting of all financial data, P&L.
Financial analysis and monitoring of the PNL of MARK/PRM with client axis.
Maintenance and quality control of client data referential related to PRM and agency business risks.
Work on streamlining the processes and develop tools to strengthen the security of production.
Assist with daily and month end BAU tasks and challenge existing processes where possible.
Contribute to ad-hoc requests from business lines.
Build relationships with key stakeholders across the business.
Summary of Responsibilities
Perform and compute the daily profit and loss, confirming this information with the front office.
Resolution of any risks and issues arising from the production of the daily P&L's.
Maintain, and where appropriate, develop an independent daily P&L verification process which incorporates validation of trading results.
Maintain, and where appropriate, develop automation for existing processes and ensure that appropriate controls are incorporated within any change being made, whether in the Run-the-firm or Change-the-firm space. Many processes contain room for automation and improvement, whilst other reporting processes are still being developed and need further enhancements.
Daily monitoring of all exposure impacting the business as a result of the trading activity, and working with key business areas, risk and operations to ensure exposure and risk is appropriately monitored and managed.
Ensure documentation of all procedures relating to daily reporting and control processes are kept up-to-date.
Build Knowledge around the Prime Brokerage and Clearing (PBC) and Global Execution Services (GES) business lines to respond to queries and work on improving transparency and communication of information provided by the MMG team.
Work closely with other MMG entities to improve the quality of information provided to the UK, especially for commentary.
Perform Ad-hoc requests from other partners / stakeholders.
Produce and send Global Business line report.
Profile Level of Autonomy and Authority
A high degree of autonomy as the individual would be expected to operate with minimal supervision, report on a timely basis and escalate issues to management at the appropriate time.
Indirect management and necessity to liaise with numerous teams within the bank inclusive of other Product controller's teams in Paris.
Ability to work autonomously, be responsible for following matters through to completion and able to report alert to MMG UK management.
Operational Skills - Good level finance technical knowledge and understanding of Investment Banking market activities.
Very strong knowledge on VBA code.
Strong Analytical Skills - understand underlying problematic issues and provide suggestions.
Communication Skills - ability to communicate with the trading and other teams.
Flexibility /Adaptability - ability to develop macro and handle special request in short period.
Coordination skills (across and between the teams in OPER and the business).
