The SEI Legal and Compliance Team (the "Legal Team") is seeking a General Counsel for its operations in the United Kingdom, which are currently resident in SEI's Finsbury Square location. The Legal Team consists of approximately 70 lawyers and compliance and legal services professionals located in offices in Philadelphia, London, Dublin and Toronto. The Legal Team manages the legal and regulatory affairs of SEI and its subsidiaries. These subsidiaries include companies in the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Ireland, South Africa and Hong Kong providing financial services which are subject to regulation by a broad array of financial regulators, including: the US Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, the Securities and Exchange Commission, FINRA, the Pennsylvania Department of Banking and Securities, the Ontario Securities Commission, the Central Bank of Ireland, the UK Financial Conduct Authority, the South Africa Financial Services Board and the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission.
As the UK General Counsel you will have responsibility for overseeing the operation of SEI's UK legal and compliance function and report directly to the Group's General Counsel based in Philadelphia Pennsylvania. The UK General Counsel and the UK Legal Team acts as legal counsel to each of our market and competency units based in the UK in contracting and customer service and relations, pursuit of unit and corporate strategic initiatives, regulatory compliance and risk analysis and management, interaction with regulators, and dispute matters.
What you'll do:
Counseling the boards of directors and various board committees of the various UK entities operating in the UK, as well as those of SEI's South Africa and Hong Kong subsidiaries.
Managing the UK-based Legal Team.
Acting as the principal point of escalation, communication and problem-solving for matters arising in the UK operations of SEI's market units, competency units and South Africa and Hong Kong
Member of SEI's London Executive Committee together with other UK-Based unit heads, and participates in the oversight of the Company's risk profile through participation in SEI's London Risk and Oversight Committee.
Participating and managing the proceedings of and presentations to the UK-based, South Africa and Hong Kong Boards of Directors, providing periodic updates to such Boards on legal, regulatory, governance and risk matters.
Counseling internal stakeholders with respect to the handling of legal and compliance issues and the risk and business issues that arise with respect to such matters.
Participating in various activities related to corporate governance, regulatory compliance, and third party risk management.
Drafting, negotiating and advising stakeholders with respect to employment-related agreements, including employment agreements, non-disclosure and non-competition agreements, severance agreements and settlement agreements.
Educating internal clients with respect to best practices.
Managing and prioritizing multiple concurrent projects.
Assisting with the review, design and implementation of training programs.
Assisting with policy and procedure drafting and review.

Additional distinguishing experience to be considered:
Experience in global financial services operations and ability to understand and communicate differences between regulatory expectations and legal requirements applicable to our UK operations.
Extensive transaction experience in strategic acquisitions and joint ventures, outsourcing arrangements and customer contract negotiations.
Experience in corporate governance issues of regulated financial services companies (banking, investment advisers, broker dealers, fund administrators, investment managers, etc.)
Knowledge of financial accounting principles and practices applicable to us and transactions in which we engage.
