Long/Short Equity Special Situations: focuses on bottom-up, idiosyncratic situations with a bias toward those with defined catalysts, events or other elements of corporate change and complexity
Merger Arbitrage: utilizes a selective approach dedicated to investing in situations in which the Firm maintains a differentiated view of the outcomes in merger-related situations
The individual who fills this position will be responsible for generating, analysing and monitoring long and short equity investment ideas in the Asia Pacific equity markets. They will also work in a collaborative manner with the other analysts of the firm across geographies and asset classes. The individual will benefit from meaningful scale and existing infrastructure which include access to research, technology and risk management.
Monitor the financial and operational performance of companies and developments within the public equity markets in Asia Pacific.
Analyze trades, generate trading ideas, and perform financial research and modelling relating to publicly-listed companies in Asia Pacific.
Originate, communicate and support high-conviction investment ideas & recommendations.
Work directly with Senior Portfolio Manager responsible for the Asia Pacific equity business and other members of the equities team and the firm as appropriate.
3-5 years of total work experience with a focus on the Asia Pacific equity markets.
Prior experience preferred as an analyst in a top-tier investment banking program or a sell-side equity research role is preferred; top ranking in applicable analyst program.
Demonstrated modelling and valuation expertise.
Capable of generating both long and short ideas.
Innovative and deep fundamental views, backed up by detailed financial models on the companies he/she covers.
Capable of working as part of a cohesive team that spends a significant portion of their time on the road.
Reputation for deep and detailed research undertaken with an appreciation for broader trends.
Should have a complete understanding of the fundamentals & industry drivers, what will move a stock, and an ability to translate this understanding into numbers.
A fundamental, bottom up, in depth approach to research & analysis.
Excellent academic background.
