Description Commercial Lending Management ("CLM") manages the end to end commercial lending process for clients of the US CCB. Key responsibilities include loan underwriting, credit and financial due diligence, portfolio management, loan structuring and documentation, and credit delivery and servicing. CLM manages approximately $20 billion in credit exposure across 2,000+ credit relationships.
We are seeking a dynamic and motivated senior professional to manage CLM's Commercial Industries & Regional Credit team ("CIRC"). This commercial loan portfolio includes secured and unsecured revolving lines of credit and term loans, syndicated loans, leveraged loans, cross border loans approved locally and extended overseas thru the CCB's global network of 30 countries, commercial cards, cash management lines, and derivative liens of credit. This individual will oversee a team of approximately 40 employees and will have management responsibility for all credit risk activities and end to end delivery of the credit product to select clients in the Global & National Industries, Middle Market and Emerging Corporate client segments. The CIRC loan portfolio totals $15 billion and spans 400+ US CCB relationships across four industry verticals: (1) Energy, (2) Technology, (3) Industrials , and (4) Consumer , Agriculture , and Healthcare. The position reports directly to the Head of US CLM and is based in New York, NY.
Key Responsibilities · Be a seasoned, experienced and senior credit underwriting executive with deep, relevant product experience in commercial and cross border lending · Be a strategic thinker and process oriented; capable of partnering with business leaders to grow the loan portfolio responsibly while adhering to credit policy and regulatory requirements · D rive improvements in risk assessment, risk differentiation, monitoring, transparency and analytics in underwriting and portfolio management
Improve credit processes and procedures, and implement best in class solutions to raise work product quality and productivity in a calculated way
· Manage a geographically diverse team of up to 40 employees · Drive continuous improvement in the ability of CIRC to author well thought out and concise analysis of US CCB credit relationships using appropriate structure and identifying the key risks and most relevant mitigants · Hold self and team accountable for coaching, providing feedback, and recognizing and rewarding, based on performance · Create an organization that enables change and anticipates and removes barriers that may impair results, to maintain clear focus on delivering results · Be an effective leader in complex transactions, including syndications, leveraged lending, and multi-level capital structures; work proactively, and in a constructive and diplomatic manner, with internal and external stakeholders to keep transactions moving smoothly · Drive continuous improvement in credit delivery turnaround times (TAT) to facilitate time to close and improvements in client experience · Be an effective leader in complex transactions, including syndications, leveraged lending, and multi-level capital structures
Partner with Independent Risk on regulatory/ audit exam coordination and management; partner with Independent Risk to monitor the external environment for emerging risks; effectively interpret and enforce application of credit policy and related procedures
Provide executive leadership to direct reports to effectively manage and develop a large, diverse group of individual credit professionals
Develop and maintain a high performance underwriting team, with a focus on the quality of the teams' work product, engagement, leadership, voice and partnership; set appropriate goals and provide timely feedback, coaching, and training to motivate and develop staff
· Assist direct reports in managing portfolio reviews and pipelines, meeting targeted service levels, and implementing CLM processes and procedures ; s upervise the timely preparation of monthly and/or quarterly financial memo reviews, tracking compliance with loan covenants, managing early problem recognition, and supervising the preparation of CCR and PWLs reviews

15 years of experience in credit underwriting, portfolio and/ or risk management with a large multinational financial services organization is required
Demonstrated success building a business/ organization or driving strategic change within a larger multi-national financial services organization
Experienced at managing a team of commercial loan / credit underwriters; technically credible and demonstrates pragmatic business judgement, flexible thinking and a commercial instinct
Business SCO signing authority
Expert credit resource who can move fluidly across a broad range of loan products, including secured and unsecured revolving lines of credit and term loans, syndicated loans, leveraged loans, asset based loans, bilateral loans, cross border lending, cards, cash management lines, and derivative lines of credit
Benchmarks own performance and teams performance against industry best practices
Excellent communication (written, verbal, presentation and listening) and organizational skills
