Fitch Ratings is seeking a self-motivated, inquisitive professional with strong analytical skills to join the Innovation & Research team in Public Finance. Members of this versatile and influential group support various central functions across Public Finance including rating criteria research and implementation, model development, and rating systems innovations.
Assist in the development of rating criteria, including researching metrics, preparing and cleaning data, back testing, and coordinating documentation for the internal approval process
Collaborate with the Model Manager and Model Development Team to create and maintain financial models
Prototype and manage the implementation of new analytical tools to support the ratings process
Support senior analysts on research pieces across a range of industry-relevant topics
Bachelors or graduate degree in economics, finance, public policy, or related fields
1-3 years of work experience
A strong ability to collect, clean, and prepare data; find the story in the data; and defend a viewpoint based on findings
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong critical thinking and quantitative skills
Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Excel
Familiarity with SQL, VBA, R, and Python are all strong pluses
