The Financial Engineer is responsible for developing portfolio design tools, models and applications used by Jacobi clients globally.
The position will be part of a team of financial engineers located in Brisbane and San Francisco, developing and deploying innovative solutions in real-time. The financial engineering team, whilst decentralised, is a tight working group and the position requires working closely with others in different locations and thus requires strong time management skills and self-motivation. Candidates should have a creative but analytical mindset and be passionate about investment portfolio design.
The role offers the individual an excellent opportunity to work closely with a range of sophisticated clients across the investment landscape, including asset managers, asset owners, asset consultants and private wealth managers.
A "solutions-driven" financial engineer to develop and maintain complex portfolio design tools, models and applications for use by Jacobi clients
SKILLS AND TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in Quantitative Finance, Mathematics, Econometrics, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline
Experience with Python programming to solve investment problems
Deep understanding of portfolio optimisation techniques, strategic and tactical asset allocation approaches, factor-based investing and other statistical approaches relevant to financial engineering and quantitative analysis
Excellent understanding of financial markets and instruments, including their drivers
A strong appreciation of data visualisation techniques and engaging with stakeholders on complex financial problems
Experience with SQL and relational databases
Quick learner with a true passion for multi-asset investing and problem solving
Experience with or within an asset manager, investment consultant, wealth manager or institutional asset owner would be well regarded
Prior experience in meeting with clients to discuss investment topics will be highly valued
