The Global Head of Commodities Middle Office will be responsible for delivering efficient, scalable post execution operational services to Citi's Commodities sales and trading business and will help support their clients globally. This role reports directly to the Global Head of Commodities Middle Office Operations
The primary responsibility of this role is to work in close collaboration with Business and Technology partners to develop and implement a Middle Office strategy to support a rapidly growing set of products. The Commodities business is currently undergoing a major platform re-engineering initiative, and the Middle Office Operations team will play a significant role in driving selected work-streams within this strategy. Therefore the successful candidate will require significant change management capabilities in addition to managing geographically diverse operations. The Middle Office lead is expected to develop relationships with senior Business and OandT stakeholders globally, as well as having a broad external network amongst relevant regulators, industry bodies and clients
The MO lead will be directly responsible for approximately 12 staff globally. The successful candidate will define and implement a clear strategy for continually strengthening the control environment while working in close partnership Operational Control, Risk, Compliance and Internal Audit. This framework will include analysis and interpretation of the operational impact of new and emerging regulations.
Specific areas of global responsibility will include:
Developing and implementing a multi-year operations strategy for Commodities MO and supporting Operations teams in close partnership with Business and Technology stakeholders
Driving the delivery of strategic MO platform re-engineering initiatives globally
Engaging in relationship management activities as required to support the Business
Driving the implementation of initiatives to continuously improve straight thru processing (STP) rates and productivity
Overseeing daily operations and management of core operations
Acting as a senior point of escalation for issues
Developing an effective control framework that fully meets Audit, Compliance and Regulatory requirements and delivery of periodic presentations to external regulators as required
Maintaining a culture and environment where processes and controls are continually monitored and potential risks escalated on a timely basis
Qualifications and skills:
Energy and Enthusiasm
BS/BA degree or equivalent in relevant subject (e.g. Finance, Accounting, Mathematics, Management)
Extensive years of experience in managing a Commodities Middle Office team within a Tier 1 global financial institutions
Extensive years of experience in dealing with Commodities Markets across an array of products (Oil, Gas, Power, Emissions, Base Metals, Precious Metals, Ags, LNG etc.)
Experience delivering strategic change programs spanning multiple years in a fast paced, large global financial services firm, ideally in an operations, risk or technology organization
Flexible, collaborative, and proactive; a leader who can positively and productively add product impact to both strategic and tactical technology
Possesses expert level of knowledge in communications and proven success interacting with senior management both in the business, corporate functions as well as the Operations, Business and Technology environments
Provides evaluative judgment based on analysis of factual information in complicated, unique and dynamic situations; draws on diverse range of internal and external sources
Self-reliant, good problem solver, results oriented
Demonstrated experience leading people and developing effective and diverse teams across a global footprint
Ability to establish and build trust with professionals throughout the business as a leader, advisor and business partner to the organization with a clear client orientation
Strong awareness of both external and internal best practice perspectives, maintaining a balanced and fresh viewpoint
Ability to conceptualize aspects of the organization's model and its future development
