Commonwealth Superannuation Corporation (CSC) provides superannuation services and products for Australian government employees and members of the Australian Defence Force, with funds under management currently circa $47bn. The fund is purposed to provide our members with a comfortable retirement income through the achievement of sustainably competitive investment returns and excellent risk management. CSC's Private Markets team invests across private equity, infrastructure and real estate opportunities via debt, equity and bespoke access routes. CSC is hiring three new positions to increase depth: Investment Manager (Infrastructure specialisation) and two Analyst roles which will cover two of the three specialisations of the Private Markets team.
Investment Manager – Infrastructure
The Investment Manager is a key part of driving the investment due diligence and transaction execution processes for CSC, with other responsibilities as follows:
Be part of developing and maintaining relationships with both current and potential investment managers to access their global deal flow, assess potential investments and contribute to the construction of CSC's portfolio of private markets assets.
Involvement in asset performance reviews and key strategic decisions within portfolio businesses including timing of potential exits.
Bespoke pieces of work to assist CSC in improving its investment processes and outcomes, including making more robust systems to capture and assess data and trends related to private markets.
Contribution across other areas of Private Markets outside of Infrastructure.
Oversight and acting as mentor to the private market analysts.
Overseas travel (likely US/Europe) for investment and portfolio related activities.
The ideal candidate will have approximately 5-12 years' experience covering infrastructure gained from corporate finance, project finance, investment management and potentially equities research.
Investment Analyst – Private Markets
The Investment Analysts will have responsibility across a diverse private markets portfolio covering private equity, infrastructure and real estate. You will be involved in:
Monitoring, reporting and analysis of the firm's portfolio of current investments with the scope to help make strategic decisions.
New investment review and due diligence;
Review and perform due diligence on and build relationships with a suite of global private equity/Infrastructure/RE managers;
Review of market indicators which will assist the team assess market risks and potential future returns within Private Markets.
The ideal candidate will have approximately 2-5 years' experience from a range of backgrounds including but not limited to: direct investing, investment banking, corporate advisory, strategy consulting and Big 4 consulting or transaction services. Those with broader corporate or financial markets (outside of private capital) experience will also be considered. Individuals will show a high degree of drive and initiative, display strong interpersonal skills and have the ability work with a wide range of stakeholders both locally and internationally.
