The Research Analyst will be responsible for producing high quality, insightful and impactful research in respect of important trends in Asian credit markets, with a principal focus on South and Southeast Asia. The role will report directly to the Managing Director and Chief Credit Officer for the Asia Pacific. The successful candidate will play a key role in the future growth and expansion of Moody's research franchise in Asia and will enjoy high visibility, both internally and externally. He or she must excel at developing effective research ideas and strategies and garnering support for their implementation. He or she must also demonstrate the necessary communication and presentational skills to assume a leadership role in Moody's market and media outreach activities in the region. The position will be based in Singapore and will involve regular travel in the Asian region.
Research and Communication Skills: write articulate, persuasive, timely, insightful and relevant research, and have a strong impact on Moody's thought leadership in respect of Asian credit markets. In addition the role will work with the analytic teams in Asia and coordinate the development and articulation of key credit opinions and insights. Key deliverables include:
construct and implement a research and outreach agenda, including the publication of 10-12 thematic reports annually and associated press releases and presentational materials.
present Moody's views on key Asia credit trends and developments at selected Moody's and external conferences, with the media, and in investor outreach.
Leadership Skills: given the scope - covering multiple lines of business and Asian credit markets - the role will require a high tolerance for complexity along with the ability to garner attention for our research reports by offering clear and compelling opinions that are well supported by data, market information, and reasoning. Through natural influence and coaching, this person will motivate analysts to produce superior analytical products. The role holder will also represent the region internally within Moody's global research groups.
Business Transformation: work with and challenge the analysts in Moody's Asian credit ratings teams to foster an innovative culture, help create new research products and update processes that strengthen Moody's research franchise and relevance in the Asian market.
Qualifications Required Qualifications:
At least 5-10 years experience in the research function of an established financial institution, publishing firm or international body. This will include research experience in Asian financial markets, preferably with a background in credit research but this role might suit an individual looking to move from a research role in equity capital markets
A solid track record in publishing research within the Asian financial markets
Strong ability to articulate views orally with market participants including the media
Success at growing and building research capabilities for a financial services organization
Demonstrated track record of providing superior research product and efficiently managing the content production process
Ability to work collaboratively with others, experienced in operating across department lines
