A position has arisen in the Capital Markets Originations EMEA Loans and Leveraged Finance team for a qualified candidate to join the Syndicate Risk and Control Desk. The successful applicant will need to understand the internal processes/controls at all stages of a syndicated loan starting with an approval process through to final allocations. The successful applicant will need to interact and cooperate with other groups involved in a transaction: legal and tax counsels, financial control, regulatory capital, treasury, compliance, Credit Risk Management, Agency and Operations and understand the flow of information and interaction among them. The successful applicant will have responsibility in managing , developing and supporting one member of staff on the Desk
Global Online Loans and Leverage Finance (GOLLF)- Syndicator Maintenance: maintain the Syndicator database on daily basis and keep the current and forward deal pipeline updated. Requires constant communication and follow-ups with the deal teams and sales force. Responsible for the review of Loan Approval Memorandums, it's contents and correct representation of the transaction terms in Syndicator. Ensure proper approval level signoffs are obtained and Credit Risk Administration and Operations book the commitment.
Continuous Support: provide daily support to Sales, Structuring teams, and Business Management. Notify all key support functions including Operations, Credit Risk Management Services, Product Control and Corporate Loan Portfolio of new positions, and all changes to existing positions. Ensure changes to positions are accurately reflected on a timely basis in the firm's Credit, Regulatory and Financial records, and in weekly/monthly risk reporting.
Process and Procedures Compliance: work closely with the Business Heads, Business Unit Managers and Senior Transactors on implementation and enforcement of Institutional Clients Group (ICG) Risk Policy, Rules Governing Underwriting and Bridge Loans, and Citi Corporate Governance and all Key Compliance Policies including AML, Conflicts Clearance for all deals..
League Tables: submit and monitor league credits awarded by various Syndicated Loans ranking publications. Involves knowledge of criteria and advisory role to the deal teams on a transaction league table treatment and compilation of various custom rankings.
Weekly Risk Reports: preparation of weekly Deals, Risk, and Long Positions reports for EMEA.
Self-assessment process: conduct review of Transaction files as part of the group's self-assessment process. The review is focused on important loans documentation and it's compliance with internal Risk Policy. Preparation of materials for Internal Audit, Internal Credit Review, and external Auditors and Regulators.
Process Improvements: continuous analysis of current procedures and process flows, ensuring best practice is exercised in all areas including enhancing technology, updated reporting metrics, operational efficiencies, and to meet policy or regulatory requirements.
The position requires good knowledge of the ICG Risk Policies and Procedures, Rules Governing Underwritings and Bridges, and the Core Citi Policies. Familiarity with Syndicated Loan Product would be an advantage.
Good understanding/awareness of the EMEA Loans and Leverage Finance processes and Credit Polices
Good PC skills and familiarity with internal systems (Syndicator, LoanAnalytics, Flexcube, and RAPID) would be an advantage
Educated to degree level
Extensive years of banking, credit, operations or compliance experience
Ability to make and justify decisions under pressure
Ability to multitask and to act autonomously is a must
Good interpersonal skills and high confidence level are essential
Willingness and ability to learn
Good verbal and written communication abilities
