The firm has developed unique models to unlock funding for impact investments and is currently scaling up to be positioned to deploy capital on a rolling basis.
This role will involve putting key investment processes and systems in place in order to increase internal capacity ahead of the $100 million funding it is currently securing. The role will also initially involve building out and managing the deal execution team. Upon the closing of the funding round (estimated Q1 2019), the role will expand to also include key investment functions as outlined below.
Initially, the role will include the following responsibilities:
Refining investment processes, from deal sourcing to due diligence to final decision.
Putting systems in place to facilitate the investment process at scale.
Helping build out the investment team.
Building out the model for deal execution teams, which can be replicated as additional funding is raised.
Participating in investor presentations where necessary.
Once the next round of funding is secured, the role will expand to also include the following responsibilities:
Assisting in building out the pipeline of investment opportunities from firm's existing global network.
Conducting due diligence and full analysis on select new investment opportunities, with the assistance of the deal execution team.
Identifying global expansion opportunities for technologies and businesses, including relevant partners.
Drafting recommendation memos to present to Investment Committee, while also being a member of the Investment Committee.
Managing all elements of transactions through to closing.
Experience / Skills
5-10+ years investment experience at a top-tier venture capital, private equity or similar financial institution, active in the processes of deal sourcing, execution and portfolio engagement.
Experience leading highly-skilled, multi-disciplinary teams with diverse backgrounds in a complex, dynamic and fast-moving environment.
Proven ability to manage a highly diverse portfolio across multiple sectors.
Preference for investment experience in impact and sustainability, specifically in any of the following areas:
Exposure to and/or investment experience in emerging markets.
Has excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
Alignment with the firm's vision, ethos and values.
Strongly results-oriented, shows initiative and is proactive in helping others.
High levels of emotional intelligence and self-awareness.
Growth mindset – wanting to consistently grow and develop one's self.
Strong interpersonal skills to build strong relationships both within the firm and externally.
High attention to detail.
