The Associate role will initially involve assisting in finalising the current $100 million funding round as well as further building out the firm's operating principles and systems to increase its investment capacity. Upon the closing of the funding round (estimated Q1 2019), the role will expand to also include key investment functions.
Initially, the role will include the following responsibilities:
Refining the firm's marketing collateral and documentation.
Assisting in further refining the firm's investment strategy.
Identifying and engaging with relevant organisations and groups who would derive value from the firm's business model.
Assisting in the process of building out and implementing the firm's operating principles and systems.
Undertaking research on investment areas within the thematic focus. Once the next round of funding is secured, the role will expand to also include the following responsibilities:
Sourcing and engaging with potential investment opportunities.
Conducting background research and due diligence on prospective investments.
Identifying global expansion opportunities for technologies and businesses, including relevant partners.
Assisting in drafting recommendation memos to present to Investment Committee.
Experience / Skills
At least 3 years investment experience at a top-tier venture capital, private equity or similar financial institution with exposure to deal sourcing, execution and portfolio engagement.
Preference for investment experience in impact and sustainability, specifically in any of the following areas:
o Clean tech
o Financial inclusion
o Real assets
Exposure to and/or investment experience in emerging markets.
Has excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
