The role will functionally report to the Asia Head of Risk Management. There will also be a local reporting line to the Hong Kong Chief Executive Officer and a legal reporting line to the Chief Risk Officer (CRO) of the Bank in Luxembourg.
Implementing and maintaining local risk policies and risk tolerance statements for HK, in adequacy with company standards, Group risk policies and local requirements
Promoting a sound risk and conduct culture (risk awareness and trainings, balance scorecard, etc)
Maintaining an adequate Risk Management framework for the Branch, including risk identification, assessment, measurement and controls - This would include, amongst other things:
Maintaining a risk register and relevant key risk indicators
Implementing and performing second level / monitoring controls, where deemed necessary, for risks identified (e.g., fraud risk, operational incidents, etc)
Propose remedial actions / mitigating measures for risks identified or change in regulations for areas under responsibility
Reporting locally to the CEO of the Branch, functionally to the Asia Head of Risk Management and to the Head Office as required
Adopting a forward-looking approach to better identify and anticipate emerging risks
Keeping abreast with developments in the local market / HKG Branch, including:
Keeping abreast of business developments, being close to the main stakeholders and advise / assist the Business lines in the identification and management of risks
Keeping abreast of new / amended regulations (more specifically for areas covered)
Participating, where relevant, to industry seminar / conferences on risk management, including industry network / intelligence
Rigorous, analytical, honest and independent while having a curious mindset, you know how to show initiative and commitment. You show a keen interest in all risks related matters and will be able to uphold and enforce the internal guidelines strictly, while developing a collaborative approach with the business and other departments.
Sound understanding and knowledge of wealth management industry and regulatory landscape
Strong influential and collaborative skills to get jobs done
Independent, initiative driven, solutions oriented, able to propose improvement ideas
Team player, able and willing to share and continuously contribute to the risk team's success
Good communication skills (oral and written)
University level / Business school in Economics or business fields. Risk Management certification (e.g., FRM) would be a plus
Strong knowledge of risk management, controls and banking processes
Understanding of regulatory requirements for wealth management business, operational and financial risks
At least 8/10 years' experience in a similar position in the private banking industry (either within a big 4 audit firm or a risk function in a bank)
Expert use of common IT applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and BI tools (Business Object, Tableau)
Fluent in English. Chinese (Mandarin, Cantonese) and French a plus
