AlphaWise Data Solutions & Services is leading the charge on data strategy and management for MS Research. Given the growing strategic importance of data, the group is a key enabler for both "offense" (generating new commercial opportunities) and "defense" (ensuring proper data use and risk management). The group is seeking a seasoned Data Analytics Associate with experience in financial services/banking to create data offerings and help build a robust data management platform. The role is dynamic, fast-paced, and interacts with multiple stakeholders. The candidate will:
- Perform a variety of business and data analyst functions, including working with Research Analysts, Sector Quants, IT, and other SMEs to understand and enhance Research data products - Uncover data product enhancement opportunities; prepare requirements and business cases - Define requirements for overarching data management platform; work closely with technology teams to prioritize and implement solutions - Create efficient and reusable code to analyze, cleanse, and transform data products - Use financial data expertise to better structure data for use by Research Analysts - Create and maintain data product documentation (e.g. requirements, product specs, playbooks) - Manage project timelines and facilitate the day-to-day operational aspects of the program - Develop and maintain metrics to measure the data quality of our products - Build offshore capabilities and oversee activities of offshore personnel
Technical Qualifications - Experience in the financial services with a strong understanding of market data - Data analysis experience, including profiling, quality, and transformation - Experience with system development, including requirements gathering and documentation - Python proficiency required; experience with R preferred - Experience working with data in multiple formats (Hadoop/Hive, DB2, Excel, etc.) - Awareness of data management practices, issues, and emerging trends - Understanding of data modeling, statistics, and basic financial modeling
Required - Bachelor's Degree from an accredited higher learning institution required (preferred area of study: Economics, Mathematics, Finance, Computer Science, or other similar fields) - 2-5 years of business and data analyst experience in the financial services - Willingness to play multiple roles across the business and data analysis spectrum; ability to multi-task, manage conflicting priorities, troubleshoot, and get things done - Collaborative, flexible mindset; interested in building a new program and operating in an uncertain, startup-like atmosphere - Excellent analytical skills; able to decompose complex problems into manageable pieces; comfortable suggesting and presenting solutions to technical and non-technical audiences - Comfortable working in a large organization with a broad set of cross-functional stakeholders
