A Leading Hedge Fund in Manhattan is seeking a Full-Time, Permanent Quantitative Validation Analyst (QVA): MUST HAVE A GREEN CARD OR BE A US CITIZEN
This position is based in New York and entails working closely with senior members of the team to create, maintain, and, improve intelligent and automated anomaly detection and data validation systems and constantly track their performance. As a QVA, you will work across firm departments to create and execute a strategy to leverage your systems to detect issues and anomalies in data and ensure end-to-end validity of their datasets. This position will not be a good fit if you are not willing to commit for at least 3-5 years, or if you are not interested in validation of financial data and models.
Work with senior team members to advance the framework for validation of numerical data and analytics
Help data owners identify and solve data issues with existing and new analytics
Create documentation of code, data flow, and report generation
Gather requirements, document business processes, and participate in design and implementation of other Investment Team projects
Estimated Percentage Allocation:
40% data/model validation using the Firm's existing framework
40% maintain and improve existing Python-based data validation systems
10% monitoring and synthesizing validation reports
10% other firm-wide projects
Successful candidates will possess the following attributes:
Master's degree in statistics, data science, or computer science, or Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field with 2 years of experience
Programming experience using statistical computer languages, preferably Python (R, Matlab also acceptable); experience using numerical libraries (Numpy/Pandas preferred, Scikit-learn is a plus); Microsoft Excel (experience with VBA preferred)
Basic knowledge of database design and queries, and the ability to pick up new technologies quickly
Business Experience & Analysis
At least 1 year professional experience in programming, mathematics, and/or data analysis/munging preferred
Experience with processing, cleansing, and verifying the integrity of large datasets preferred
Understanding of investment financial data

Initial Success Criteria:
During the first 6-12 months, the successful candidate will:
Gain a comprehensive understanding of the existing data validation and anomaly detection systems as well as the Firm's processes, applications, and quantitative code base
Make suggestions for improvements to code and processes
Develop an ability to produce validation plan for new analytics and datasets with some oversight
Gain understanding of existing gaps in validation and recommend plans to improve coverage and validation processes
