This role has full responsibility for developing and implementing creative Marketing, Public Relations, Public Affairs and thought leadership business plans and associated activities, including managing internal and external communications strategies, all of which have impact, support the brand and drive growth and on-line activity.
Managing a small professional team, the role serves to ensure all Marketing and Communications activities, including budget and business plans, are tracked and reported and appropriate analytics are performed and shared in support of continually improving management insight. This includes development of, and delivery against, the annual marketing, PR and communications plans and managing the performance of the external agencies providing marketing services to the business.
The role also supports the development and delivery of strategic marketing planning and reporting to shareholders and clients working closely with Executive Committee Colleagues.
Develop a Public Affairs policy designed to enhance and strengthen the LPP Brand within the LGPS community with appropriate implementation of legislative, pooling, administration and public relations engagement and messaging programme.
Provide a proactive research and advisory service to Chief Executive, Executive Directors and the Board on all Marketing, PR and PA related matters in order to facilitate decision making at the highest level and in support of developing and delivering against the Strategy and Business Plan.
Develop positive strategic relationships with LPP key stakeholders and business partners including PR and PA agencies, Board Directors, Government bodies, external influencers and all levels of management and staff.
Produce innovative and cost effective marketing promotional material, both in print and on-line to support business and client goals. This will include production of range of integrated materials including the internet, intranet, posters etc., including writing, proofreading copy and liaising with designers and printers as appropriate
Develop a digital and on-line marketing strategy which seeks to incorporate social media channel to enhance client and member engagement.
Define and deliver press and conferencing messaging, proposition and content that engages target audiences and support the business delivery.
Build and maintain appropriate contacts with key media, identifying opportunities to deliver our message whilst being responsive to change, and maintain a contact database.
Working with HR and other business colleagues, deliver the internal and external events programme, to ensure the brand presence is maximised and strategic objectives are met. This will include drafting briefing papers and presentations for those attending external events.
Carry out market intelligence, including research and customer surveys to support the delivery of the corporate messaging and evaluate the effectiveness.
Monitor competitor activity providing the Executive Committee with appropriate analytics and insights into challenges likely to affect the business.
Produce regular data and statistics to track achievements against the Marketing, PR, PA and Communications plans, recommending creative and innovative changes to support the delivery of the corporate goals.
Develop and manage the marketing budget, monitoring progress to support the expected return on investment.
Deliver third party marketing, events and communications programmes for the LPFA Shareholder Client including, but not limited to, facilitation of external member forums.
Manage a small team, tracking performance progress and delivery of personal objectives against the business plan.
Delivery of excellent marketing support to colleagues in the areas of scheduling, project tracking, report generation, high level communication messages etc.
Degree level educated and/or post graduate Diploma in Marketing and/or Communications related discipline.
Demonstrable experience gained operating at a senior management level within a modern day marketing/communication function.
Excellent working knowledge and understanding of the pensions and investment market ideally gained from an asset manager or within a heavily regulated environment.
Ideally a good understanding of the political landscape and agenda, keeping abreast of such developments and demonstrable experience of recommending appropriate engagement and business development strategies.
Demonstrable effective project management experience including planning, monitoring, communicating, implementing and evaluating both the success and cost effectiveness of each campaign.
Knowledge of the latest online marketing tools including web technologies and the development of social media strategies
Analytical and research skills associated with a modern day, technical and data orientated marketing environment and the ability to share such information in a concise and effective manner
Highly effective communication, influencing and relationship management skills demonstrating personal credibility in delivering strategic information to peers, senior management and Board members to facilitate high level decision making.
Demonstrable ability to build positive and productive working relationships with a variety of partners including PR agencies, Media contacts, local and national Government representatives, public agencies and statutory authorities.
Strong people management capability with experience of leading and motivating a team of professional and administration staff. Provide visible and supporting leadership fostering a high performing and customer orientated culture.
