We have an exciting opportunity for a Legal Manager, Retail Litigation to join our team based in Milton Keynes.
This role entails the management of all Retail Bank litigation including disputes in connection with critical Bank services and operations and certain third party supplier contracts. The job holder will be accountable for the leadership of Retail Litigation team reporting to the Director, Litigation, Contentious Regulatory and Competition and have oversight of delivery of high quality, concise and pragmatic strategic and operational legal advice to the business and senior stakeholders in respect of disputes to mitigate legal, reputational, conduct and regulatory risks

As a Legal Manager, Retail Litigation your main responsibilities will be
Provision of pragmatic, strategic and business focused legal advice to seek to mitigate/optimise risk in respect of all matters within remit with a holistic view of legal, financial crime, regulatory, conduct and reputational risks
Provision of effective governance and oversight in respect of Disputes including design of effective controls and associated monitoring and reporting
Set relevant policies and standards, manage and provide oversight of disputes relating to Bank services and operations.
Strategic input to relevant risk management fora including inputs from stakeholders and sharing outputs, engagement in industry bodies, engaging with regulators and government and supporting responses to consultations and proposed legislative change
Strategic input to Business Unit and Directorate to become best in class professional services firm within the Bank, and have active collaboration with colleagues across L&R to demonstrate joined up approach where possible to business stakeholders
Preparation and delivery of executive management and board papers as required
Minimum skills and experience required
Must hold either a current Solicitors Practising Certificate for England and Wales or be fully admitted to the English Bar or hold a Scottish or foreign jurisdiction capable of conversion
Expertise in managing both complex and volume litigation in connection with retail banking, including experience of team management
Experience of policy design, implementation and oversight, including oversight of litigation related operational activities
Experience of preparation and delivery of briefing papers to senior management in committees
Working knowledge of the UK regulatory framework for financial services products and services
Effective project management skills, with ability to manage multiple, conflicting interests and deadline
