Finance & Business Management (F&BM) is seeking a business manager (VP) based in Singapore to support the Global Clearing business in APAC which consists of Futures & Options, OTC Clearing and OTC Intermediation. The business has a physical presence in multiple locations, including Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia, China, Australia, Korea, Thailand and Taiwan. The Global Clearing Business is part of Prime Services, which rolls up Equities within JP Morgan Corporate & Investment Bank. The Global Clearing business continues to undergo significant change, driven by political events, continued regulatory oversight, Technology and Operations developments. Combined with the mandatory changes being driven by new regulations, Global Clearing is a fast paced and interesting area to work in.
Main aspects of the role:
It is an exciting time in Asia, with the Opening up of the Chinese market to international participants and other new products being launched by exchanges in the region, this person will be deeply involved in strategic initiatives and business enablement. The role reports to the Global Clearing business manager based in London and will be part of a Global team of 10 (2 in Singapore) providing support to the Global Clearing business. In addition to Asia mandates, there will also be opportunities to work on and lead Global initiatives.
This business manager role has four main areas of focus, working in conjunction with the business heads:
1) Driving business strategy and growth
Act as trusted advisor to the business heads
Ensure implementation of the business agenda
Drive change through prioritization and alignment of resources
Provide analytics to support business decisions
Communicate the business strategy, performance and priorities (e.g. business updates and reviews, offsites)
External interaction (industry bodies, exchanges, clearinghouses and regulators) as necessary to develop the business strategy 2) Managing business risks and promoting a strong control environment
Understand how regulatory reform will impact the business and help ensure the business is best positioned to respond
Identify, assess and mitigate business risks that could impair the ability to do business
Drive new business initiative assessments
Business continuity and resiliency planning
Working with Control Managers to develop and implement the control agenda 3) Optimising business performance and planning
Optimize business performance by driving key initiatives (e.g. New Business NBIAs, budget planning)
Oversee investment/productivity initiatives across the end-to-end business to achieve multi-year targets
Coordinate business performance reviews and business planning
Oversight of real estate needs and space planning 4) The points above come together in establishing business priorities and then ensuring delivery
