Established in 2010 by a high-calibre team of former bulge-bracket bankers, the firm was created to be consciously different - with a greater focus on internal progression, training and development.
The team has a strong focus on relationship building, as evidenced by the significant volumes of referrals to the business and the unusually high retention rate.
In this exciting and diverse role, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
Presenting - both internally and to stakeholders (not in a solo or leading capacity at this stage) requiring clear communication style, and thorough written preparation
Analysis - using both DCF and LBO (with training on these provided by a Partner)
Project management - from day 1 the successful candidate will be involved on a variety of transactions, supported by at least 2 Partners for every deal
Client meetings - taking a proactive approach and building relationships with the client
Management - again espousing the ethos of the company of internal development by helping to coach junior members of the team
Successful applicants are typically from the Big 4 with a corporate finance focus, and also possess the following qualities/experience:
3 years of Corporate Finance experience - with a Generalist sector focus
Articulate - an efficient and confident communicator with A1 written skills
Quantitative - highly numerate and capable of learning to model (primarily DCF and LBO)
Academic - successful applicants are typically from a Russell Group background. A large proportion of the team have non-numerical degrees so Humanities candidates are also encouraged to apply
Curious - eager to benefit from weekly training and development programmes and to gain a wider commercial understanding of M&A
Ambitious - looking for opportunities to progress internally, with management of juniors
Relationship focused - looking to join a like-minded team with a focus on collaboration and relationship building across the business, an active contributor in client meetings
The successful candidate will benefit from the following opportunities:
Ambitious team - looking to become the leading UK investment bank, the team are achieving this through their impressive network, high deal flow, and commitment to growth
Strong deal exposure - with transactions typically ranging from £20 - 250million (though the team has recently completed a £1billion + deal)
Development - the team are fairly unique in terms of their development offerings, based on the team's historical experience of often inattentive practices for juniors in larger M&A establishments. Based on a Friday, the Principal Partner trains teams on areas including modelling and valuations
Progression opportunities - the team have an unusually high retention rate and emphasis on internal progression, demonstrated by many of the Partners
Project management - from Day 1 the successful candidate will be involved in transactions taking a 360 holistic view of projects
