Morgan Stanleys Service Engineering team is looking for a Back-end Developer to join their highly technical team.
The Infrastructure as a Service Engineering team is responsible for designing and implementing infrastructure for Morgan Stanley. The group is involved in evaluation, certification, integration, and maintenance of various products, including hardware (for Linux, Windows and Solaris), operating systems (primarily Red Hat Linux), system services (DNS, DHCP, NTP, syslog, etc.), file systems (NFS, AFS, and various cluster file systems), High Availability, Virtualization technologies, Kubernetes, Docker and a variety of in-house developed tools. We also provide the CMDB, configuration management tools (Quattor and Salt), security hardening solutions.
The role involves general Linux engineering including OS, filesystems, networking, name services, etc. with a focus on Kubernetes, Docker, security hardening and providing platforms for general purpose and low latency applications. It will require an understanding of Linux internals, architecture and development and maintenance of tooling for large scale deployment and configuration. The role will also involve troubleshooting problems escalated from experienced system administrators.
Skill Required * Good understanding of Linux system fundamentals. * Good Python and/or Perl programming skills. * Experienced Linux System Administrator (Red Hat Linux preferred). * Effective troubleshooting skills and practical experience with system programming (network/socket, IPC, threads). * Good knowledge of network protocols. * Good understanding of security principles and their application.
Skill Desired * Working knowledge of Linux kernels. * Knowledge of x86 hardware internals. * Good knowledge of C, gdb, crash, dtrace/systemtap, ftrace, oprofile, and other debugging tools * Knowledge of virtualization and containerisation technology. * Knowledge, awareness and contributor to open source projects would be an ideal fit.
