Position Summary Reporting to Chief Credit Officer or Deputy Chief Underwriter depending on level of experience, the Director is responsible for reviewing, inspecting, and underwriting seniors housing agency loan applications, primarily for Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac seniors housing loan programs. The Director will make informed recommendations to the Hunt Mortgage Group Credit Officer as well as provide guidance and assistance on agency loan assumptions, as needed. Participates in ad hoc internal committees.
Essential Job Functions
Prepares loan analyses and narratives consistent with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac seniors housing loan requirements.
Demonstrates ability to prepare and deliver complete Fannie Mae DUS and Freddie Mac CME pre-review and quote submissions, and ability to communicate with agency partner colleagues as requested by Supervisor.
Summarizes historical property operations, provides detailed rent roll analysis, and completes all components of the seniors housing underwriting workbooks and underwriting narratives.
Performs comprehensive credit and financial analysis of key principals and sponsors, including detailed analysis of financial statements, real estate owned schedules, and contingent liabilities.
Comfortable analyzing and understanding complex borrowing entity organizational structures and organizational documents.
Perform reviews of seniors housing owner/operators and management companies in accordance with underwriting and credit practices required by Hunt and its agency partners.
Reviews and approves third party reports including property appraisals, property condition assessments, environmental reports, seismic risk assessments, zoning reports, consultant and regulatory compliance reports.
When requested by Supervisor, participate in up-front deal screening and review loan screening packages from originators to ensure transaction terms are consistent with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac requirements.
Ability and willingness to manage, train and further develop the seniors housing underwriting analyst.
Keep up with seniors housing industry, market trends and products being offered by competitors.
Considerable travel involved to perform property inspections and market evaluations.
Performs other duties and projects as assigned by Supervisor.
Education Bachelor's degree Accounting, Finance, Economics, Real Estate, or other related fields from an accredited college/university.
Experience and Qualifications
Minimum of five years' experience with seniors housing agency underwriting experience.
Preferably two to three years of recent experience with Fannie Mae DUS and Freddie Mac CME underwriting submissions.
Thorough knowledge and understanding of Fannie Mae DUS and Freddie Mac CME multifamily loan programs and underwriting requirements.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex legal documents and financial statements.
Highly analytical thinking with demonstrated talent for identifying, scrutinizing, improving, and streamlining complex work processes.
Results driven achiever with exemplary planning and organizational skills, along with high degree of detail orientation.
Ability to interact and effectively communicate with internal and external customers, including loan analysts, senior management, borrowers, and vendors.
