As part of Global Risk, Regulatory Compliance ensures adherence to applicable regulations and standards by setting the policies which cover HSBC's regulatory requirements, and mitigate conduct and reputational risk issues. The team strives to remain ahead of the regulatory change agenda and ensures the business understands the implications and is prepared for change. It monitors how the Global Businesses and Functions manage their responsibilities with regard to complying with the regulations and helps resolve compliance deficiencies.
We are currently seeking a high caliber professional to join our team as Manager, Regulatory Compliance, Surveillance.
Prepare for the rollout of strategic voice surveillance and will look to start generating level 1 alerts and escalations to level 2 upon implementation.
Perform level 2 alerts review and disposition or escalations for Global Banking and Markets businesses.
Assist in managing and extending voice surveillance coverage beyond Global Banking and Markets as required across the region and other business lines.
Operate within the main Surveillance team, socializing and escalating potentially problematic communications with the senior Small Medium Enterprises.
Identify potential new forms of staff or counterparty misconduct.
Determine whether these could be identified through the surveillance team's current systems, processes, people and the data sets surveilled.
In liaison with the Change Team, prioritize the development of the systems, processes, people and data sets needed to better identify these new forms of misconduct for their business or asset class.
Input into and track the development of these new surveillance capabilities.
Regulators, senior management and the businesses or asset classes may request an investigation into certain practices, businesses, individuals and events. Where this investigation falls partly or wholly within your remit you will be asked to carry out the necessary work.
Produce data, Management Information and analysis to explain the finding from these investigations.
Ensure that all actions arising out of these investigations are completed.
Escalate, as appropriate, any material findings or incidents of misconduct highlighted by these investigations.
Coordinate or produce regular Management Information reports to key internal stakeholders including analysis of the Management Information.
Foster a close relationship with key front office and support function stakeholders.
Provide visibility to the front office as to the contribution that the CSA function makes to the detection and prevention of misconduct of our staff and counterparties.
Where required liaise with any regulator.
Assisting team members with the implementation and roll out of a new surveillance tools and models.
User Acceptance Testing of new automated surveillance tests. Providing detailed analysis and test scripts.
Educated to degree level.
Strong report writing skills.
Ability to lead and develop a team.
Ability to handle escalated issues and take these forward with Senior Management.
Compliance monitoring experience and expertise isessential.
A sound understanding of local regulation particularly in relation to the rules relevant to trading and sales activities.
In depth knowledge of local market abuse regulation and overseas regulations an advantage.
Sound knowledge of Global Banking and Markets.
Sound understanding of the SFO
Ability to support decisions with sound reasoning. Ability to clearly articulate business and regulatory implications of analysis and findings.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with both Compliance and Business Management.
Ambition to enhance compliance knowledge and skill set in a rapidly changing and dynamic markets environment.
Supervisory skills are advantageous.
Sound Product Control background or awareness could be an advantage.
Ability to use technological resources available for surveillance activities.
