Global Risk is a thriving and expert risk management function supporting HSBC globally with all aspects of risk management. We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Senior Manager, Credit Risk, Asia Pacific.
In charge of a defined group of ASP countries and/or Business areas in relation to Wholesale Credit Risk related matters.
Review, recommend, and approve Corporate or Specialized Lending credit proposals for the Asia Pacific region in accordance with authorized credit limits.
Primary point of contact for the areas under responsibility for all Wholesale Credit Risk related matters; which include approvals, pipeline discussions, portfolio/sector reviews, management of problem exposures, processes, policies and guidelines.
Involvement in region-wide Wholesale Credit Risk related projects or forums as delegated by Head of WCR ASP from time to time.
Lead credit approval forums involving a cross-section of senior stakeholders from multiple functions and geographies
Maintain the credit quality of the portfolio and beat forecast impairment projections
Proactively identify and highlight emerging risk issues and sub-standard credit exposures and ensure appropriate action is taken to protect the Bank's interests
Engage stakeholders and internal customers regularly by understanding and sharing vision, best practice, challenges, and potential solutions; and by working collaboratively on transaction pipelines, credit guidelines, portfolio or product reviews, and other credit risk related initiatives.
Maintain regular communication with Business, Product, Group and Country teams, provide feedback or advice to maintain effective relationships in the areas of responsibility; reinforce HSBC's strong brand value with third parties.
Provide wider contribution to other areas of the Wholesale Credit Risk team and guiding/mentoring of junior colleagues.
Degree holder with solid and diversified banking experience and a thorough understanding of the banking industry, lending practices, guidelines and appetite, as well as robust knowledge of corporate banking and treasury products
Direct experience in frontline Wholesale role would be preferred
Conversant with specialized lending areas such as Leveraged Finance, Project Finance, Commodity and Structured Trade Finance, Real Estate, Aviation and Shipping; and aware of the prevailing market trends in terms of credit structures
Lending or credit approvals experience in Asia and/or in Emerging Markets
Strong analytical and technical skills, as well as the ability to understand and consolidate diverse and complex business information to identify and mitigate risks
Excellent communication and leadership skills to able to lead discussion and credit approval forums which involve various senior stakeholders from multiple functions and geographies
Able to maintain strong relationships with Area Risk Heads, Customer Group Heads, and relationship teams
Ability to deal with, and present conflicting views to senior management in a clear and succinct manner
Balanced, constructive and commercial approach to decision-making reflective of the 'protect and enable' mandate of the Wholesale Credit Risk sub function
Demonstrated team player attitude with ability and willingness to reach out and help beyond the strict boundaries of the core role
Willing to travel within Asia Pacific countries for short period of time as required
