Data Governance - M4 As a leader within each business and corporate segment, responsible for the execution and maintenance of data governance. Collaborates with peer leaders throughout the firm to ensure promulgation and adoption of data governance protocols, proper data formatting and use of a consistent, vetted methodology for data management and governance. Within a business or corporate segment, manage teams of professionals performing data governance activities critical to regulatory reporting, financial management and risk reporting. Chairs relevant working groups and consults with relevant stakeholders. Identifies data owners for data domains and elements in collaboration with peer and subordinate data governance staff. Directs the creation of definitions, business rules, logic, metric, and thresholds for Tier 1 and Tier 2 Data in support of data tiering and data metering for the data that they own. Helps establish compliance metrics and thresholds. Reviews compliance results, prepares findings and recommends corrective actions to senior management. Ensures appropriate training and standard operating procedures and policies are developed and implemented to prevent non-compliance and mitigate risk. Consults on data governance implications with the key stage gates of the SDLC process. Identifies and recommends appropriate solutions. Collaborates with the regulatory leaders in assessing the data governance impact of new or existing regulations. Recommends appropriate strategic approach. Develops materials for meetings with executives, functional leads, data stewards, etc. with the appropriate context and tailored to the target audience. Coach and manage team member performance. Serve as the escalation point for complex or high-profile problems. Supports team members by anticipating and removing roadblocks. Establishes team goals and objectives that align to the functional goals. Contributes to the development of functional goals and metrics. Manages multiple teams within area and oversees the coaching, performance management, and resource allocation. Develops and oversees the achievement of area objectives and contributes to formulation and achievement of functional objectives. Responsible for the financial resources of the area, ensuring adherence to budget and management of expenses. Most work focuses on the achievement of long-term objectives, critical to the function.
Qualifications Bachelors degree in business, computer science, information technology, mathematics/statistics or the equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred. Additional certifications in one or more of the following is preferred: Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP), Certified Data Steward (CDS), Data Governance and Stewardship Professional (DGSP), Certified Information Management Professional (CIMP). 10-15 years of total work experience with at least 3-5 years in a management preferred. Experience over operational activities (business analysis, testing, etc.), reference data and/or enterprise data management or data governance preferred. Preferred experience includes: establishing data management best practices, metadata management, data quality testing and use of data governance tools, advanced analytical and problem solving skills, a solid background in the various NoSQL systems and experience with technical writing, using full SDLC and multiple development methodologies, overseeing regulatory compliance, establishing and maintaining internal relationships, implementing and coaching on data governance policies and procedures, identifying, evaluating and maintaining critical data elements, developing and maintaining business glossaries, metadata and lineage for data elements, developing data service level agreements, establishing and monitoring goals, objectives and metrics.
