About the role
We are looking for a Director, Business Units and Structured Financing to develop financing strategy and execute financial solutions that allow the Business Units (BUs) to deliver their strategic and operating agendas by ensuring a close dialogue with the businesses and drawing on the support of external service providers when appropriate. The role is responsible for funding group operations and projects on commercial terms and at a competitive price, reducing commercial and political risks as well as internal group capital management at the BU level.
This role is a great opportunity to act as a key interface with Business Unit CFOs and third party providers, and ensuring BUs have access to a wide range of treasury services to support their business priorities. Reporting to the Head of BU and Structured Finance, you will be:
Acting as an advisor and primary contact, identifying treasury and financial risks issues early and proposing actionable solutions
Developing and executing financial strategies taking into consideration commercial, legal, tax, and financial risks in providing equity, shareholder finance, structured finance or project finance
Managing strong collaborative relationships with BU CFOs and entity finance directors to ensure that Treasury is positioned as a core business partner
Managing key external relationships with banks, multilateral/bi-lateral agencies and external financial and legal advisors
Developing and fostering relationships with joint venture partners including governments and competitors
Implementing strict governance, ensuring that Rio Tinto corporate finance activities are in compliance with group policies and procedures
Leading and developing a manager you will be assisting business units in delivering projects around the globe
To succeed in this role, you will have:
A Post Graduate degree (MBA, CFA, Engineering or equivalent)
Significant experience in arranging/negotiating large scale non-recourse international financing as well as demonstrated project financing experience
Strong knowledge of financial concepts and knowledge of capital markets, valuation, financial instruments, cash management/Treasury management system
Ability to transform strategy, insight and complex financial information into compelling business advice
Good understanding of accounting, legal, and tax standards relevant to treasury
Strong influencing and negotiation skills coupled with cross-cultural awareness
An in-depth understanding of business and commercial realities
·Proven ability to liaise with external and internal stakeholders effectively
It will also be beneficial if you have:
Recognized Treasury qualification (e.g. ACT)
Advanced financial modelling skills
