Key Objective: › You will assist with the achievement of fund performance and risk objectives for assigned funds
Responsibilities: To assist the Portfolio Management team in all aspects of the investment process, including but not be limited to:
Investment Research (20%) › Undertaking research on alpha sources, investment markets, investment strategies and investment products
Manager Selection (25%) › Working with Manager Research and Portfolio Management teams to : o Identify potential new fund managers o Undertake all aspects of manager research process in accordance with SEI Alpha Source investment fraemwork including data collation, portfolio analysis and manager meetings o Produce research documentation as required o Communicate opinions and recommendations to other team members
Manager Monitoring (35%) › Working with Manager Research and Portfolio Management teams to : o Undertake ongoing analysis of manager performance and portfolio characteristics against expectations and mandated guidelines o Monitor external managers to test ongoing validity of SEI's investment thesis – to include regular manager meetings o Identify and resolve any issues arising from the third party management of the funds o Produce research documentation as required o Communicate opinions and recommendations to other team members
Portfolio Management (10%) To assist in: › Portfolio design – eg, definition of investment opportunity set (ie alpha sources / investment strategies and securities to be eligible for investment); alpha and risk targets, investment parameters › Production of Fund Thesis and any other materials required for assigned funds, seeking approvals where required › Determining an appropriate combination of managers in order to meet investment objectives through the cycle › Determining the appropriate sizing of positions Tactical Positioning To assist in: › Undertaking research to identify key drivers of investment returns / relative performance › Identifying, measuring and assessing relevant metrics of key return drivers on a period basis Communication and Reporting (10%) To assist in communications with SEI business units, external clients/prospects, and others as required : › Production of presentation materials › Communicating high level positioning / performance / investment process › Detailed communication concerning the performance and positioning of assigned funds
Best Practice: › Keep current on market conditions, regulation, SEI products and services, etc; › Adhere to all relevant FCA requirements and compliance; and › Any other ad-hoc projects as required.
Technical Capabilities/Skills & Experience Required for the Role: › Ideally degree educated (or equivalent) with full CFA qualification › Demonstrable experience working within asset management or multi-manager industry. › Good working knowledge of investment strategies and investment markets. › The ability to pick up in-depth knowledge of SEI products and services/technical financial information and effectively communicate that to relevant clients/audiences. › The ability to be credible in communications with peers and senior personnel › Proficient IT skills - all Microsoft office products; ideally analytical tools such as Bloomberg, FactSet, Style Research, Lipper. Ability to pick up other systems/databases easily
