The Head of Investments Ireland reports directly to the Head of Investments EMEA with a matrix reporting line to the Ireland CEO. The role provides regional senior management representation of SSGA's investment capabilities to our clients, regulators, internal stakeholders and the media.
The incumbent will have regional responsibility to lead/contribute to the strengthening of investment processes, research and control framework in the region. This role works closely with Head of Investments EMEA and work locally to ensure coordination among support functions and across asset classes on common issues such as risk, operations and compliance. The Head of Investments will oversee delegated portfolio management activity from the region and develop management information and surveillance in accordance with this responsibility. The Head of Investments will have oversight of investment related staff in Ireland and will serve as the first escalation point for investments on all matters that could have an adverse impact on State Street, its clients and its relationships with regulators.
In addition, the Head of Investments will represent our investment capabilities to the local regulator – primarily the CBI, but from time to time with other regulators across EMEA as required. He/she will be key contributor/steer for regulatory consultation and or implementation primarily on issues that impact the SSGA investment process. This role will have responsibility for fostering our adherence to local and regional government requirements such as CP86.
The Head of Investments Ireland will be responsible for supporting new investment related initiatives and strategy development for the region. He/she will develop sound relationships with regional MDs, product development, legal, compliance and the senior client facing team in order to fully understand local product, regulatory and investment strategy parameters. He/she will work closely with the EMEA asset class CIOs to assess the strength and weaknesses of investment staff in the region, exploring current investment methodologies, portfolio analysis and risk management systems and recommending changes where appropriate. In addition, he/she will work closely with our Investment Solutions Group to represent the needs of the region and help foster client focused solutions that often span across asset classes.

Oversight of all investment related staff in Ireland
