Global Technology Infrastructure (GTI) Service Operations (SO) is responsible for service support and delivery for JPMorgan Chase's (JPMC) Global Technology Infrastructure. Through its Global Service Desk and Infrastructure Operations Centre's, SO provides global, coordinated diagnostic and support services, while its Production Assurance and Support functions leverage and execute industry leading infrastructure management and support processes that are designed to minimize customer outages and impacts.
The Merchant Services infrastructure is designed to support a highly available Infrastructure with zero downtime for each physically segmented leg of our infrastructure. The Linux/HP-Unix engineer is responsible for the design, development, testing, integration, operation and support infrastructure services that meet stated business requirements and adhere to coding best practices and architecture standards
The HP-Unix/Linux/Unix engineer is the primary contact point for all Merchant Services Unix infrastructure related support/development activities.
Handles more advanced technical problems and create solutions that solve business problems
Independently solves technical issues and able to collaborate and contribute ideas
Integrates enterprise components (e.g., reference data, security, messaging) to build larger systems
Fully analyses problems, design, develop and test the code
Collaborates with multiple teams including engineering, development and operations teams
Responsible for the design, development, testing, integration, operation and support infrastructure services that meet stated business requirements and Adhere to coding best practices and architecture standards
Adheres to architectural design standards, strategic technology directions, best practice development (e.g., estimating models), mentoring less experienced team members and conduct peer code reviews
Supports all elements of Agile Methodology and Software Development Lifecycle
Frequently anticipates problems and analyses ways to mitigate the risk as a software problem.
Develop processes to maintain operational support and development documentation
Plan and perform scheduled hygiene and maintenance of the infrastructure
Monitors and evaluates efficiency of system usage and make recommendations to management to improve performance.
Bachelor's degree in a Computer Science or equivalent related field with a minimum of 9+ years of systems engineering experience.
Advanced knowledge in at least one of the infrastructure disciplines and functions:
Internals of distributed Operating System (HP-Unix, Linux) internals.
Experience in managing HP Domes, HP Blade Centre .
Experience in large scale software development in one or more of the programming languages (C, C++, Perl, Python, Java, C#,.NET)
Familiar with Agile development process and automated testing
Experience working across large infrastructure environments and distributed across multiple data Centre's
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
