THE ROLE The successful candidate will leverage their deep experience of AML regulations and how it applies in UK Commercial Banking to Client Due Diligence and KYC controls in order to build a scalable operating model which can provide a best in class client Onboarding and ongoing CDD/KYC Compliance experience, whilst also meeting regulatory requirements. The role will report to the Head of UK Operations and be responsible and accountable for the centralised UK KYC Function. The role will have responsibility for a newly formed centralized function and a key deliverable will be to apply their technical knowledge together with their experience of leading a team to drive an optimized operating model and drive process changes and efficiency opportunities to automate, simplify and streamline in order to enhance the client experience and further differentiate SVB. Working day to day directly with stakeholders in Relationship Management teams, Client Service & Operations teams and UK Financial Crime team to ensure that all new & updated client relationships have undergone the appropriate levels of client identification and verification, due diligence, sanction screening, and documentation approvals as mandated by SVB's CDD/KYC and AML procedures. Acting at pace, with urgency and control together with the ability to focus on the key risks and service excellence across the breadth of the activities are crucial attributes of the ideal candidate. Leading a team of employees this role requires the ability to lead, coach, mentor and manage accountability to ensure that business deliverables are met in an ever changing environment whilst ensuring staff feel empowered and supported to take responsibility for the multiple daily decisions required in an operations environment as well as their own personal and professional development. The role will focus on developing and maintaining the CDD/KYC and AML framework across the UK and EMEA client base, collaborating with staff across the bank, including legal, financial crime and risk management functions while ensuring that the above is achieved efficiently, consistently and ensuring effective communication across the business. A global mindset is also crucial, being able to collaborate with global business partners, share best practice and identify global and local solutions that support the client and the business. As part of this they will be required to participate in and in some cases lead multiple projects and initiatives both locally and globally, using their knowledge and previous experience of AML/KYC and onboarding. Primary Responsibilities:
Ownership and accountability for the delivery of 'best in class' Onboarding and CDD/KYC model with decision making capability
Technical leadership in meeting our CDD/KYC, AML obligations at onboarding and throughout the client lifecycle and relationship with SVB
Collaboration with partner functions and the client facing businesses to deliver effective processes and controls
Drive enhancements to processes and procedures to ensure the Bank remains compliant with regulatory CDD/KYC and AML obligations whilst aligning to a risk based approach
Ensuring exceptional levels of service
Development of effective workflow management system
Management of a team and direct reports
Goal setting and performance management
Managing productivity and quality to KPIs and KRIs
Recruitment of new staff, coaching, training and development of team members
Effective issue identification, problem solving, decision making and escalation as required

Maintain technical understanding of regulatory and market requirements for UK, US and Europe
Key responsibilities of the team The functional team serves as primary operational liaison for Onboarding and core CDD/KYC & AML requirements across a client lifecycle from client initiation & implementation activities, through responding to ad hoc change triggers to undertaking planned periodic review and verification activity. Working day to day directly with clients, relationship teams and internal business partners, proactively supporting the client on-boarding process, ensuring all new and existing client relationships continue to meet all required policies and procedures. The role holder will need to demonstrate the following skills and technical requirements:
Knowledge of global AML and Sanctions regimes
Solid understanding of commercial and corporate banking, including standard account and payment types, basic cash management services.
Demonstrate commercial awareness when responding to, or contributing to the development of process enhancements and optimisation of this new functional model
Extensive experience of managing and developing an effective operating model to meet a global commercial/corporate focused financial institution's regulatory CDD/KYC and AML requirements
Strong knowledge of regulatory landscape including forward looking view
Effective stakeholder management and the ability to deliver clear recommendations with business justification and evidence to inform executive decision making
Practical experience of 'best in class' of Onboarding and CDD/KYC and AML processes and controls
Experience in developing and implementation of effective Workflow Management tools
Bring a strong sense of ethics and have the ability to quickly develop a full understanding of new products and processes
Ability to engage and strong collaboration with employees at every level of the business
Identify and work to deadlines and be able to think beyond the initial set of facts or issues using problem-solving skills to produce work that is "right first time, every time" to meet external client and internal customer expectations
Be hard working, self-motivated and able to prioritise work independently, by focusing on the needs of the client and the bank itself
Fulfill internal and external client Service Level Agreements, delivering the wider targets and objectives of the COO department, the UK Branch, SVB EMEA and ultimately the bank as a whole
Excellent communication, including excellent written and verbal skills, and the ability to understand and disseminate complex information, and be able to clearly explain background context and reasoning for decision making.
