The Data Protection team provides consultancy and advisory services to all our UK businesses, working in partnership with the other oversight functions, such as the Compliance, AML, Legal and Risk teams. Members of the Data Protection team are located in the UK and in a number of other EU countries. Their role is provide an excellent advisory service, promoting a data protection compliant culture and enhancing the effectiveness, long-term profitability and reputation of the company through pro-active management of data protection risk, undertaken in partnership with the business, and in the best interests of our investors and customers.
Purpose of your role
To ensure the Fidelity legal entities maintain compliance with the UK Data Protection Act and other European data protection legislation, privacy laws, the GDPR and other relevant regulation and codes of practice. To assist the Data Protection Officer in providing practical advice to the business on data protection and ensure adherence to internal policies
Your key accountabilities
Assist the UK/EU Data Protection Officer to ensure that the Fidelity business, employees and other parties comply with appropriate data protection legislation and regulations
Provide advice and guidance to the business areas by pro-active support and involvement in business projects and responding to day to day queries
Assist the UK/EU Data Protection Officer in the handling of SARs, PIAs and breaches
Assist in providing reports to the UK/EU Data Protection Officer and wider Senior Management on data protection issues
Assist with training programmes/courses that are delivered to the business
Assist in monitoring compliance with the appropriate policies and procedures that are in place
Assist in responding to subject access requests and all relevant notifications or external reporting requirements
Experience of working in a UK or EU data protection role
Experience of Direct Marketing operations
Knowledge of UK Retail Financial Services
Working knowledge of Data Privacy laws and regulations in the UK and continental Europe
Strong communication skills
Data protection professional qualifications (e.g. PDP Practitioner Cert, CIPP/E, ISEB/BCS) are desirable
