The Masters Team sits within the Regulation and Documentation Function. The team consists of a qualified lawyer, 5 highly experienced negotiators and one paralegal. There are also an additional 4 resources via an outsource function in Belfast and an administrative team in Mumbai.
We are seeking a qualified lawyer with regulatory and master agreement experience to support the team with wider legal issues both on the regulatory and the netting/collateral enforceability side. This will be a dual role assisting the current Masters Team but will extend to the BREXIT repapering exercise. The candidate will need to have experience with a wide range of legal issues related to the ISDA, CSA, GMRA, GMSLA and Triparty agreements. Exposure to negotiations with a wide range of counterparties is essential. The candidate must be able to make judgement calls on legal issues and be able to work with stakeholders to move matters forward.
Key objectives critical to success:
The candidate must be comfortable reading industry legal opinions and coming to a balanced decision on enforceability. They should be able to work independently but able to highlight issues to relevant stakeholders and collaborate to find solutions. They must be comfortable signing off on legal points within master agreements and able to assist negotiators to reach effective solutions.
Skills, experience, qualifications and knowledge required:
A minimum of 5 years pqe with relevant experience in-house at a financial institution. A detailed knowledge of ISDA, CSA, GMRA and GMSLA agreements with an understanding of current regulatory challenges. Experience in obtaining and reviewing netting and collateral opinions with an understanding of CRR and the regulatory requirements.
