We are looking for an Accountant/Senior Accountant (6 Months Contract) to join the Corporate Accounting team based in Singapore/Malaysia. This role has the primary responsibility of ensuring efficient, effective delivery of external and internal financial reports for Franklin Templeton legal entities in an accurate and timely manner. In addition, this role also has the responsibility to ensure that the Franklin Templeton legal entities' financial records are in compliance with local GAAP/IFRS, respective local regulatory requirements, internal control requirements, as well as FT Finance policies and procedures.
What are the ongoing responsibilities of this position?
Record transactions and perform monthly accounting close procedures for Franklin Templeton legal entities.
Prepare monthly financial reports, including but not limited to variance analysis and other supporting documents as part of the Month End Binder Schedules
Prepare financial data/reports for purpose of statutory and external reporting including regulatory surveys. Liaise with professional firms to ensure that required statutory and regulatory (including tax) filings are completed on a timely basis
Monitor regulatory compliance relating to Finance areas, including capital requirements
Maintain permanent records and files for the department
Prepare invoices for billing to intercompany and third party
Review accounts payable transactions
Support internal management reporting by performing analysis to explain variances between actual results and projections.
Run queries and other procedures in PeopleSoft Financials to support analysis
Review internal cost allocations
Participate in regional or global assignments / initiatives as well as special projects within the Finance Group as and when required
Qualifications What qualifications, skills and experience would help someone to be successful?
Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional qualification in accounting and finance is required
Minimum of 4 years of experience in financial accounting with reporting experience, preferably with at least 2 years in foreign MNCs with matrix organizational setting and/or in Big 4 public accounting firms
CPA or equivalent professional accounting designation is preferred
Mutual fund or asset management experience is preferred
Functional knowledge in peripheral disciplines like local taxation and statutory requirements would be strongly preferred
Functional knowledge of PeopleSoft Financials would be advantageous
Intermediate level use of Microsoft Office applications, especially Microsoft Excel, is required
Self-motivated individual who is able to work independently, takes ownership of work and committed to meeting deadlines
Good time management skills and ability to prioritize work well
Strong team player
Strong inter-personal skills and ability to maintain on-going working relationships with staff and management throughout the global company
Attentive to details and ensures accuracy in reporting
Strong written / verbal communication and presentation skills
