Fund sourcing in Europe (private equity, private debt) and preparation of research views (two pagers) for weekly internal team discussion
Leading investment due diligence projects (team, track record, strategy) primarily on European and on Asian and American fund offerings, secondaries and co-investment opportunities
Perform legal & tax due diligence on fund offerings (in co-operation with internal and external legal counsels) including negotiation of terms & conditions pursuant to MPM procedures
Presenting investment proposals to Mercer Private Markets Investment committee
Monitor investee funds (e.g. portfolio updates meetings with fund managers, attendance at AGMs, investment consents etc)
Monitor portfolio investments through regular calls and meetings with fund managers and respond to investor consent
Maintain relationship with existing fund manager and intermediaries as well as potential fund managers to ensure a systematic coverage of relevant private market fund investment opportunities, with a focus on Asia
Prepare periodic client reports and respond to client requests
Conduct market research studies and client portfolio analysis
Support Mercer investment consultants on private markets advisory projects
Participate as Private Markets subject matter expert in prospect / client meetings
Prepare or contribute to Private Markets research, analysis, marketing materials and RfP questionnaires
Edit quarterly client reports
Participate in weekly team meeting
Top academic credentials (MSc) or Applied Science
Min of 5 years of professional work experience in asset management, consulting, corporate finance or a related field – ideally in private markets asset classes
Experience in private markets secondaries and co-investments is a plus
Strong analytical, conceptual and editorial skills
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint (experienced in storytelling)
Ability to boil complex analysis down to an essence
Self-motivated team player and ability to work independently
Strong sense of ownership, paying attention to detail and ensuring high-quality client deliverables within set timelines
Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and Mandarin; Cantonese is a plus
