The team are the company's financial M&A experts in evaluation and execution of M&A deals and equity investments.
The role is broadly divided into 3 areas:
Leadership of all areas of transaction execution, working alongside a business partner – including deal negotiation, valuation, modelling, transaction management, coordination of due diligence, and seeking internal approvals
Post investment management of minority investments and joint ventures.
Research and review of markets and of specific targets as directed, but with a deep understanding of the strategic and organic growth direction of the company.
Partner with business and functional leads to manage, negotiate, and implement acquisitions and, on occasion, disposals.
Partner with business unit leadership to determine optimal acquisition opportunities across asset classes and geographies.
Gather public information, conduct due diligence and make financial, strategic fit comparisons for potential transactions.
Partner with legal, tax, and other business functions in analysing transactions.
Develop business cases and financial models to support transactions
Assist with and draft papers and presentations on potential transactions for internal approvals (up to and including board level).
Conduct due diligence and project manage multi functional due diligence process.
Build external network in the industry and with intermediaries as required
Maintenance of Corporate Development database for Asset Management and Wealth Management.
Skills and Experience
Significant experience of managing day to day execution of M&A transactions, ideally some of which is in a corporate function.
Experience of financial services, preferably deep experience of Asset Management and/or Wealth Management
Previous experience in one or more of a Corporate Development, Investment Banking, or Corporate Finance department of 'Big 4' accounting firms
Demonstrable experience of negotiating transaction terms, structures, documentation and mechanics
Good verbal and excellent written presentation skills
Outstanding valuation, quantitative and financial analysis skills including interpretation of financial statements and translation into meaningful trends and assessments.
Demonstrable ability to probe for and drive the construction of key business case assumptions and translate these into credible financial scenarios with internal stakeholders
Project management skills
Ability to work effectively in an environment with a high degree of ambiguity, capable of exploring new opportunities quickly with little oversight
Strong track record of building internal relationships
Demonstrable experience in a M&A environment
The role will report to the Group Head of Corporate Development and may receive a 'junior' level report.
Role will be based in London with occasional travel
Must have CFA and/or be a qualified accountant or equivalent
