My client are a leading global private investment firm with in excess of $21 billion of capital under management across multiple investment strategies including private equity, debt/credit lending, growth equity, real estate and life sciences. The firm continues to expand its investment footprint in Europe and since inception, has established three funds for its LBO and distressed debt strategies.
The firm now wishes to appoint an experienced European Debt Operational Manager (Distressed Loan Closer) to assume responsibility for all debt investment operational matters and ancillary support services. The role will report to the Managing Directors leading the strategy with secondary reporting line to the European CFO. The key responsibilities of the role include:
* Responsible for all settlement activity in the European debt portfolio, including o par o distressed o deeply distressed o syndicated or bilateral loans o new money facilities o bond settlements o associated equity where relevant * Drafting and review of trade confirmations, transfer certificates, pricing letters, participation agreements and multilateral agreements. * Act as the central point of contact for senior investment professionals and finance teams in both Europe and US * Provide daily update of positions and reconciliations and regular trade settlement reports to the investment team * Responsible for Europe loans administration including the calculation and reconciliation of interest payments, paydowns and gains / losses * Support deal restructurings including document review and calculation of pre and post positions * Monitoring and management of leverage facilities including settlements and collateral requirements * Responsible for foreign exchange hedging of all European investments including review of strategy, trade execution and provision of reporting to senior management * Provide support to EU and US accounting teams to assist accurate accounting of transactions * Other ancillary investment administration including processing waivers in accordance with required deadlines * Assist with KYC requests from counterparties * Maintain close relationships with agents, bank coverage contacts and legal advisors
Experience required * Relevant and detailed experience gained in a similar role in a buy side institution / fund. Previous experience of closed ended fund structures a distinct advantage * Previous experience of the full range of debt instruments transacted by the firm * Experience in special situations, restructurings and debt for control documentation * Full and extensive understanding of Credit Documentation * Solid understanding of foreign exchange hedging processes
